Turnaround time from port to dealer...

So my car is on the Porgy which just left Halifax and is due in NJ port @05:00 10/25...Is it unrealistic to expect my dealer(JMK) in NJ to be able to meet the saturday 10/27 delivery date promised to me? I've been reading the horror stories with cars that were held at the port for a month on the initial US deliveries...this is a european redilivery car...Is it possible to clear customs in just a day??

I think thats optimistic. My ED car arrives at the port 10/25 and I'm hoping to take delivery 11/3. This assumes an oil pump is waiting for my car at the port.

Highly unlikely. My car arrived 9/26 and cleared customs on 10/1 - 3 business days. At that point it was logged into the VPC and the prep work was done. Delivered to my dealer 10/4 and I picked up Friday 10/5. So for me it was 9 days from port to delivery and both the rep at the VPC and my CA said it was the quickest they've ever seen an ED car make it through the whole process. I'd say chrisratz has it right expecting 11/3 delivery.

Yes I think Christratz is correct too.

Plus I made a call to BMW and told them to put a hold on all ED Re-Deliveries until I get mine, since I have been waiting 7 weeks already to get mine re-delivered, and I still dont have it. Oye-Ve!!

ED cars tend to take 3-4 days to clear customs. Non ED clear faster. Add 1-2 days in VPC. At best you will have it in 5 days after arrival at port.

Arrived 10/15 port, cleared customs 10/18 and arrive at VPC, still waiting on work to be done on oil pump. Many many calls and still not completed. It was scheduled to be delivered to dealer today, ugh not going to happen. So far, 9 days and no oil pump while its getting a sun tan and bird shi$$ all day.

FYI - if it's at the VPC in NJ, it's indoors. They have a large warehouse for cars awaiting processing (or so I've been told, never been there myself).

I have seen references to calling the VDC/VPC, Are you calling the main number and using your VIN as a reference or it is a BMW representative there?
More directly, what is the number to call to get an update (not BMWNA or BMW ED SS) they are f'ing clueless.

They actually told me that info was wrong. That what I was looking at was the anticipated date of arrival not actual.

I said activate the f'ing BMW Assist on my car and tell me where it is.

They cant see past their delayed info screen. Dont really care to entertain anything else either.

Hopefully they move quickly for you.

BTW, where are you in NJ? I'm in Basking Ridge, pretty close to JMK.

Funny coincidence, I'll be passing through Mahwah tomorrow on my way home from a meeting in White Plains.

There's a local (Morris County) car group that meets every 2 weeks, lots of cool cars from foreign exotics to American muscle. The next one is on November 4th if you're up for a drive down 287. Would love to see the cobra if the weather permits the drive!

Hope you have better luck than me.......mine arrived port Brunswick 10/15 and shows VDC accepted 10/18. Since then, complete radio silence. Dozens of calls/e-mails into dealer, BMW ED, my 'special' BMW rep etc. No news, no commitments, no estimates, nothing. Good luck. I hope you break the trend.

Put the Cobra away for the season this past weekend...up on my lift tucked away for the winter...the E39 will go underneath...so excited to get into the F10...dont really do those car meets/shows as i have 3 kids and my weekends are dominated by driving to/from my kids' sporting events...at least I'll have a nice new "taxi" to make it more enjoyable!

I know the feeling, I've got 2 little guys as well. Thery're not doing sports yet, but the weekends still seem to be jammed with stuff to do. I only make it to the meets 3 or 4 times a year when I can negotiate a little "sanity time" with the wife. Of coure the quid pro quo is I take the kids while the wife goes for a facial/nails/whatever ...

I was "told" via email yesterday that my car was to be completed yesterday (Brunswick) and ready for transport out.
I will believe it when I see it. I feel so priority 1
