Just arrived today. M wheel with lights and display.
I thought it was just shift lights and a stopwatch. Er no. The manual for the wheel (just operation not install) is 28 pages....

There are 4 main menus.

ED mode Blue colour
Consumption and stopwatch
Consumption and Average Speed
Consumption EDI
Water and oil temp

Sport Mode Orange Colour
longitudinal/ lateral G and stopwatch
Lateral G with memory
Water and oil temp

Race mode Red colour
Lap mode and stopwatch
Section mode and stopwatch
400m / 1/4m race timer

Setup Mode white menu
Brightness
Speed Units
Temp Units
Consumption Units
Switching Threshold (rpm)
G meter threshold
Selection of time capture

It's fairly complex and I wont use half of the displays. The install instructions refer to an infra red lap trigger sensor. That is not included with the wheel and the parts are:
IR transmitter 71 60 7 715 830 - bit for pit wall
IR receiver 71 60 7 715 836 - bit for the car
Power adapter cable 71 60 7 690 235 - bit to power pit wall sender from a 12V battery.

I'm confused, how have you managed to get this. My dealer is telling me these things haven't even got a price yet, let alone be available.
How much was it?

Looks stunning btw

Ordered On 04 October, arrived 31 October. Price was 1187.50+VAT so £1,425.00 (+ fitting).

I always ask for specific part no.s, as the parts person is fixed with an archaic DOS ordering system and the BMW WebEPC which has a lot of errors. So just asking for "the new M5 steering wheel" probably wont get you there. Also I ask them not to check compatibility with my car as more often than not "computer says no" where I know its the right bit. As an aside BMW UK and local dealer were adamant there was no retrofit reversing camera for M5. I proved them wrong. Dealer says next update of the parts database will include it (wouldn't hold your breath.....).

Here is a full list of M5 kit. M6 in its 3 variants has different numbers.

Really appreciate your help on that. Managed to get a price on the wheel without LED display. £855.00 inc VAT.

Have you got any pics of the wheel installed on your car?

Because of the faff with UK dealer and BMW UK saying there was no kit, I ordered it from http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...ence-retrofits for €1200.

If you don't already have multiple video feeds you just need 66 21 2 181 317Reversing camera retrofit kit, and you must also get 66 53 9 302 256 reversing camera control unit. If you do have multiple video sources already, then you also need 65 12 2 182 508 video switch kit. (+4.5 hrs install + 1.5 if need video switch)

Yes you need to order a full LCI sport steering wheel and paddles and airbag as well as the M wheel, to transplant them across..

Williams of Stockport. Ask for Lisa in parts. She knows who I am as the mad bloke who knows more about BMW than BMW do, and goes in asking for mad stuff.

FYI - Carbon ceramic retrofit is ETA for 23 FEB 2014.

I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone know if any of these M accessories can be installed at the port for ordered cars (port installed accessory program)?

Yes and if installed at Port or Factory, parts will have the full four year warranty. If installed at dealership, parts carry a two year warranty. Looking to do the same thing.
