Will the 2014 have been worth waiting for?

I have followed this blog for the past few years, from those of you who were the original ED'ers of the F10 M5, to the first 2014s showing up here in the states now. As my excitement and impatience to finally get in my own M5 becomes palpable, I wonder if waiting for so long to get a 2014 will have been worth it... I may get stuck in a situation where I only get to enjoy the car for 6 months before having to "be away" from the car and my family for a year or so. I went back and reread some of my posts from 6-7 months ago, when speculation on the 2014, LCI, HP boosts, etc were running rampant:

My January guesses
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showpos...70&postcount=2

2nd year of a production run... given fuel pump scare, want every opportunity for any other "kinks" to be worked out. Imprecise, MY14 is third year, and March 2013 and beyond production had changes that addressed my concerns
Adjustable side bolsters -- if my new 3 has them, the 2014 M5 better have them -- it would be even nicer if they were dynamically adjusting like in the Mercs... but we will see. Yes! probably one of the most contentious, and I think our DOT is squarely to blame on this one, not BMW. Still not dynamic though
New LED headlights... from what spy photos show-- and what is already on the 3/6/7 -- the squared off lights look meaner. Yes! really like the new lights
new LED taillights Yes!
Side mirrors with turn indicators - again, have this in the 335 I bought last week, and like it. Yes! and even better than the F30s
New steering wheel Yes. I slightly prefer the new one.
Ceramic controls? hope this will be allowed at least as an option. No, and I still think this a fail on BMWs fault -- the faux brushed aluminum is my least favorite interior note in BMWs
Hoping for new trim... possibly like the CF that currently can only be purchased aftermarket Nope. Why cant the M performance CF be an option right from the factory?
iDrive upgrade? debatable when they will debut the new touch top iDrive controller. Yep. though hearing early reviews arent that great
There also appears to be a nice, subtle bend from the headlights to the kidneys (you can see it in 6 GC, and appears to be in the spy photos). No. It's in the F10s but not the M's

Me and Stealth discussing power increase and LCI:
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showpos...3&postcount=20

Turns out that yes, the M5 will be more powerful than the M6GC even though there is a $30K price difference; however there is a $7300 premium to get it.

All being said, there are many good reasons that confirmed my waiting. However, there is no tangible value to enjoyment, and I am jealous of those of you who have gotten to enjoy your cars for the past 12+ months , and appreciative of those of you who shared and blogged about your experiences so that I and others could learn from it! Something tells me its going to be a long, hard 4 weeks till I get to Munich...

Short Answer: YES! For me, it's the steering improvements, along with all of the benefits of the competition package that make it worthwhile for me to upgrade my 2013. Without the Comp Pkg, I wouldn't upgrade since it would only be minor changes.

Goodluck on your wait, it'll be worth it.

No way. I'm buying a 2014 myself, but my year with the 2013 was awesome. They have refined the car for 2014, but the 2013 is almost as awesome and I could not imagine having driven a lesser vehicle for the past 10 months.

BTW I still think I'm right because the extra power is only for CP cars. They didn't make the 2014 more powerful - they provided the option of making it very slightly more powerful. My 2014 will likely not be a CP car because I think the Sport exhaust is going to be lame compared with my Eisenmann so I will transfer the Eisenmann. If I want more power I will get an extra 70hp from Switzer which will make the 15hp CP cars look lame.

Also the CP is also available on the M6GC now (it's not listed but it is available) so BMW did maintain power parity between the cars.

how will the m5 be more powerful than the m6gc. from my understanding the m6gc can be had with the comp pack??? (wouldn't that make them of equal power, unless there is some additional upgrade i missed??)

NEVERMIND, just read the other posts n saw stealth mentioned it

Wait, what? Had you posted this before and I missed it? Which variant are you going with? When are you getting it?

I agree that the power increase is software / mapping and its at a exorbitant cost. I did not know the comp package was available for the GC (though it makes reasonable sense), as I hadn't seen it on the Configurator or anything official.

M5 Individual same as my current car but with LED lighting package.

I am debating whether to get CP and switch to a frozen paint (either frozen gray or frozen bronze) instead of MCB. I'm also trying to get Opal White instead of Platinum Full merino for the interior.

And I'm getting 343M even if I do get CP.

I am very happy to have driven my 2013 M5 but I am far more excited to get my 2014 M6 comp pkg. Many nice improvements , of which the steering is the most important to me having driven the 2013 and 2014 side by side and knowing that the comp pkg steering is even more of an improvement that the standard steering already so markedly is.
