Which briefcase should I get?

I used to carry some dressy briefcases in the past. I have had Porsche Design and my favorite was the Canali leather briefcase which I used from 2006-2010. The photo below shows one in black, but mine is Cordovan which really stood out and regularly got complements on it.

However as someone who takes around 120 flights a year, I got tired of the weight of the Canali briefcase and switched to a lightweight Tumi Alpha briefcase which was much more convenient and practical.

However I always felt the Tumi, while practical, seemed a bit cheap with the ballistic nylon finish. Recently Tumi launched a range of cases with fine leather, and so I am looking to switch to another slim and light Tumi briefcase, but made from leather.

The question is what color to get? Black is the safe choice, but I'm wondering if I should get Tan or Brown for more style? What do you guys think?

First one.

The rest look like they belong to a hair dresser.

I already have the first one. While it does look superb, I retired it because it is way too heavy. It weighs about 6 lbs empty. Plus it has no shoulder strap. It's really a pain to carry.

I'm now function over form.

If you're function over form then just stick with the Tumi Alpha. Yeah, it is a little less stylish than the others, but who cares. If it works, it works.

I like the Canali the best but the Tumi looks like the most comfortable and useful.

Or find one that has the quality of the Canali but the functionality of the Tumi. Kind of like the F10 M5.

It's hard. Porsche design has one which is lighter but it's still too bulky.

I like the light tan.

Have you considered Bally's?

I think their leather is superior quality at a value.

I have switched to a back pack for air travel and just a portfolio when at the meetings.

Or you could try to match your ///M5 interior including trim.

If you are worried about Nylon looking cheap and not man enough to carry a leather bag without hurting your sensitive back... try this out.

My grandfather has had good luck with it.

This is mine, but I fear its not your style -- by the way all saddleback leather bags have a 100 year warranty; I have three of them now:

This is badass:

http://www.tannerkrolle.com/product-...computer-case/

This tumi is a nice balance of the two you already have:

Any of these are awesome, but I like the dunhill the best: http://www.refinedguy.com/2013/03/26...briefcases/#26

or maybe just get this: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xqr...ete_shortfilms

This could be a good option. It looks pretty thin. I want something around 2 inches thick since I carry a MacBook Air 11" and an iPad Air.

Louis Vuitton Lozan in Grizzli, a drop in the bucket for a man of your stature! The Canali you have is magnificent, but realistically as much as you fly, screw the looks unless you are headed to LA or Vegas to meet some ladies and give a flip what they think about your case, so go with the lightest most durable thing out there. Sorry I missed you in ATL, you can be assured the Laser set up works as I had a cop staring at his gun like it was malfunctioning whilst running up 400 at 90 to grab the kids 263 more pair of Nikes since their feet grow like kudzu. Best to you and good luck with your decision. Peace. B

Thanks for sharing this great list. All the examples you picked are too bulky for me, but I found this outstanding piece on the Tanner Krolle website. I wonder if I can get it in tan with a shoulder strap.
