OK, so I just called the Customer Call Center at The Welt to inquire about English speaking tours and wanted to see if people are interested in coordinating? The downside is that they do not do tours on Saturday or Sunday and the VIP English speaking tour is only in the morning on weekdays. There are 3 options: 1) the ED included 2 hr VIP tour for only ED customers, which is in English at 11:30am; 2) the 2.5 hr general tour for anyone - apparently longer than VIP, but not exclusive to only those picking up and costs 8 euros; 3) a private tour for up to 30 people at 120 euros total.

Given the fact that I will most likely arrive Friday (Aug. 31), midday, the VIP tour doesn't seem likely to happen, and I will be leaving Monday (not sure what time). She claimed that there were no time slots for the private tour on Friday either.

I was wondering if there is anyway we could get a headcount of those that are picking up on the 1st (Sept.), that would want to do a tour in English, but could only do Friday evening? If I get enough responses, I will try to send them an email and ask if we have say 5 or 10 M5 pickups for the 1st with each one having 1 or 1+ guest(s) to see if they will accommodate and do a US ED M5 private VIP tour for us. Eventually we would require production numbers and names, but if there is enough interests, I am hoping I can just set up the time specific to our group and then everyone can email or call in directly for that time to make their reservation.

I'm not sure about the best way to go about collecting this info, but it seems like this topic is really just for the first few doing ED so maybe we can just post here?

I too have a 9/1 pickup date
Would love to get in on a VIP tour. Have not booked my flts yet but in principle should be there on the 31st and leaving Mon or Tue.
Sign me up and it would be great to meet on the 31st too?

I live in germany and seriously considering an M5. Whether I pick one up or not, I would be glad to meet with the group at the ring and show you around. Its a second home for me of sorts. I'll keep an eye out on this post, but please PM me and we can talk specifics. Also been around the block a few times here. Would be glad to offer suggestions and do's/don'ts for your respective journeys.

I am picking up 9/3. I am landing on 9/1 (afternoon). I am available anytime 9/2 in/around Munich.

After my 9/3 pickup, my tentative plan is to drive up to Nurburgring (stopping midway for lunch and Porsche museum in Stuttgart). After hanging around the 'Ring on 9/4 (doing some laps in late afternoon when track is open to public), I will head back south and criss cross the Alps until 9/7.

I am up for any group activity night of 9/1, anytime 9/2 or 9/3 before midday. Also could rendezvous at the Ring on 9/4 or anywhere in the Alps on 9/5 or 9/6.

I bought a fancy camera mount for my Canon DSLR to get some cinema quality HD video of Alpine passes (copying this guy:
). I can't wait!

Does anyone know if the Welt tours are given in English on Mondays? Looks like not, for the best ones. I am starting to think that my Mon 9/3 delivery data was not thought out well....

For 9/3 (monday), I assume they give you a "basic" tour right before or after the delivery.

If you'd be up for a tour of BMW M GmbH on 8/31 in the early afternoon (say maybe 1 or 2pm) please PM me asap. I need a count.

As noted above, this would be a privately arranged tour; not at the Welt, not at the factory, not at the museum, but at BMW M HQ which is in Garching (near the old ED pickup spot for those old-timers here!).

Somebody that's already been to the welt organize a dinner and cruise party. I would but this is my first time to deutchland. I'm guessing we do it on Monday night to get the most members together. Also I've got a thread with people that are going to be there and date of arrival, if you haven't yet, sign up so we have a count.

Mark.

I'm traveling the same time as you. Taking the 5:35PM United flight out of Newark on 8/31. Let me know if you're on the same flight.

I would like to arrange a group outing for the evening of the 1st in Munich for anyone interested. Dinner, good German beer, whatever!

Count me in on group dinner. Flying in Friday afternoon. Did we get a head count on people for the factory tour Friday since a no go on 9/1 deliveries?
