CAR Magazine scoops the 2011 F10 BMW M5

Name: BMWM5_2011_F10.jpg
Views: 55517
Size: 49.7 KB

First and foremost: these photos are only renderings based on what the magazine believes the car will look like. (If you want to see what the car will likely look like, our collection of spy photos are here: http://www.bimmerpost.com/?s=f10+m5&...bimmerpost.com. The most revealing of the spyphoto sets is this one: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=303014).

But on to the guts of the story. The car itself is destined to arrive in late 2010/2011 as a 2011 model. CAR magazine expects that the car will have:
  • 4.4-litre V8 bi-turbo
  • 578bhp, 530lb ft
  • 155mph limited top speed
  • 0-62mph 4.4sec
  • Unlimited top speed 188mph

The 4.4l V8 M engine would be the same exact unit as is found currently in the X5 and X6 M, but with a few tweaks to differentiate the vehicles slightly. CAR also supposes that this car will be not only the fastest, but also the cleanest M5 to date.

Make sure to catch the January issue of CAR magazine for all the details on the M5.

I think that estimate is very close; it'll be at lease 550hp since it's based on the same engine as the current X5/X6M.

As of yet, the F10 M5 will be shown as a concept car in Geneva next year with the official unveiling of the production cars being some months later. European launch is scheduled for Fall 2011, the US launch might be later.

Best regards,
south

They are speculating 0-100kph in 4.4 seconds>?? Doesnt that seem a little slow when considering the x6m does it in 3.9?

and the Porsche Panamera does it in 3.3 seconds with "only" 500 horses, the new M5 better match that performance to uphold its tradition as the ultimate driving machine.

Very nice. It looks much better than the E60 M5.
