For all of those who are suffering from wastegate rattle, the solution is here

We realize that most S63tu and some N63tu customers that have installed catless downpipes are suffering from the notorious wastegate rattle. Until now, there was no actual fix for this issue, but this is all changing now.
We have developed custom mapping for N63tu that eliminated wastegate rattle in both Sport and ECO modes and now we are extending our support to S63tu platform. In the upcoming week, we are having one of the forum member's vehicle flashed so he can report the results to you guys.
Stay tuned.

There's a few companies who've been fixing wastegate rattle for years, so you're wrong there. I'm curious how software will fix a physical issue vs actually rebuilding the hinges that cause the rattle. Yes, these are 335's but it's very likely their turbos are made by the same people who made ours.

James, you are correct in that there has been a. Fix for waste hate rattle however I don't think the solution works for S63 and N63 customers. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that's what I've been told.

On a side note, my waste gate rattle decreased when I switched exhaust systems. Hasn't bothered me as much as it used to.

I thought the rattle was directly linked to the wastegate itself.

Dude was online 4 days ago. I'd still rather get a physical repair and upgrade the turbos vs a band-aid repair using software to hold the waste gate closed...seems like theirs gotta be a trade-off in doing it that way.

As Allmotor has said his new turbos rattle I don't think its the same as the N54 issue of wear in the waste gate arm pivots/bushs. A fix via tuning and control of the waste gate actuation is a possible solution and I know the JB4 has a waste gate rattle setting for the N54's already.

Sorry guys, have been offline for a while since we have left for a group buy in middle east. Now that we are back in the states, we can actually respond.

Regarding the wastegate rattle. We have tested this software repair on a 4 cars so far. 3 euro spec 2013 M5 and 1 USA spec 2014 M5. On all euro-spec M5s, the repair completely eliminated the rattle and on the USA spec 2014, the software has substantially reduce the wastegate noise.

Email worked last time I was in the middle east, so...

Send money, ask for proof and questions later, get frustrated because it doesn't work, replies for resolution will stop coming, everyone walks away with a learning lesson.

Whatever might be reducing the noise should just be included in piggy/flash tunes, not something separate...any tuners out there reading this? Either way I'm still curious why whatever is being used to "fix" the rattle wasn't incorporated from the factory...there must be a reason why BMW didn't hold the wastegate closed tighter.

Guys - at idle, the wastegate is 'open' meaning exhaust is bypassed from the turbine into the exhaust housing and downpipe. The s63tu does something interesting in the Sport Plus mode where it keeps the wastage semi-closed to help build boost quicker. If that's what the software is doing, then you can just do that by keeping the car in Sport Plus mode.

When the wastegate is 'closed' - that's mostly at WOT. The way boost is regulated is by how much the wastegate allows exhaust to bypass the turbines thus controlling the level of boost the turbo is allowed to develop.

Maybe they tweaked the open and semi-closed position to be a little more closed??
