BINGO. I see it as just the cost of doing buisness. I have had no tickets either. The police aren't that bad out here....well in my area at least.

same here. never pulled over. Put the plate in the car so when you park downtown you can stick it on the dashboard. Plate on front looks bad whether you drill or not.

I live in Seattle as well and on 10 cars in as many years I have never had a front plate and only got one ticket in the entire time for no front plate. Even that ticket was just going to be a warning where I had to prove that I would fix it otherwise it would convert to a ticket and I just asked for the real deal since I wasnt going to drill holes in my M5 then anyhow. I wouldn't worry about it WA.

A couple of years ago, Meter Maids in San Francisco and Palo Alto started ticketing me for no front plate WHILE PARKED. I just try to not park in metered parking spots. If I had to park in metered parking, I would use double-sided tape.

I never put a front tag on any of my cars.. The way around not getting a ticket in Maryland is donating to the 'Fraternal Order Police Department of Maryland'. Make a small donation ($25 or more) and they will send you a sticker saying you support their cause. I have been pulled over 3 times for no front tag and have been let go EVERYTIME! I put the sticker on my rear passenger window, so it is in perfect view! works like a charm

Yea we have something slightly different Law Enforcement Memorial plates or LEM plates. Seem to do the trick also.

I live in New Jersey and work with someone who actually got pulled over just for not having the front plate on. Just not worth the hassle to me so I had the dealer drill the front plate on. Having said that, I'm usually going fast enough that no one has time to see the plate in their rear-view mirror!

I think I found the best solution for those who don't want to go the route of the tow hitch mount (not my personal favorite):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WW726W4

This thing looks perfect so far. I need to get a set of toggle bolts to mount it with and then I'll post pics of it installed. I intend to mount it to the lower black grill on the M bumper.

On nice thing for us OCD folks, the pivoting feature will let you tilt it down to wash behind it

For $10 you cannot beat it.

I have the US mill works plate. Very handy. It's a tow bar assembly.

I'm moving to PA in a few months. No front plates required there. Im STRONGLY considering putting my ED Plate back on tho.

I only got pulled over once for it here in WA. The police officer was cool tho. He's also a Bimmer Guy (Bimmer Motorcycle and low mileage E36 M3 Sedan at the house). He talked it down to a verbal warning. He REALLY liked the F10.

My wife's a physician and was given this 'get out of jail free' card by the NYPD that she gave to me as, like she said, "you need it more than me." I love my wife. The NYPD gives these out to the docs that they like in case they are pulled over for speeding or something on their way to the hospital.

This is the reason why I wont be putting the front license plate on my M5.

When I first moved to NY from CA, I didnt have a front plate but kept getting pulled over (this is before I was married). Just wasnt worth the hassle and begrudgingly put on my front plates on my E46. Not anymore! Lets hope I wont have to pull this card out, because if the cop starts asking me about this rash on his back that been bothering for ages, I'll be caught in a lie! ;-)

Getting an M5 out of state.. of course the state the M5 is in Dealer has already attached front license plate onto it... Has anyone had any success with having the holes filled? Will most likely switch it for a euro plate regardless

I'm going to try something different. Just bought a self adhesive vinyl sheet for my printer that is waterproof and a can of Crylon acrylic spray to gloss coat and protect the print. I will scan my license plate, print it on the vinyl, apply clear coat for protection, and stick it to my bumper. I'm sure it's illegal to print your own plates, but they do this all the time on super cars in Europe.

Hmm, interesting and worth a try! Let us know what the cop says when he pulls you over. ;-)

parked on the streets of NYC, you will get "missing front plate" ticket.
I believe it's worth $55 or $65

I've been without plates for 2 years and only one ticket and that was by a meter maid. Never got pulled over even with cops literally opposite to me, looking at my car. I was at starbucks parked behind a cop car. Cops came out and chatted in front of my car and nothing. They were even checking the car out, but ignored it. It's too much paper work for them to pull me over.
