87 octane by mistake

I started filling her up with 87 out of habit and didn't realize what I had done until 6 gallons went in.

Immediately switched to 93 for the rest.

I was near empty so my average octane put in will be closer to 93 than 87 (I didn't pay attention to how much 93 went in, some guy was begging for $ and I wanted to leave).

Any concerns I should worry about? Will I experience a slight reduction in power?

Thanks in advance

I honestly think you're fine, I wouldn't sweat it. Just pay attention next time.

Just put a little octane booster in if you are concerned. You can purchase a small bottle for about $5 all over the place.

Even one full tank of 87 doesn't hurt the car your average is more than 91....Here in California we don't even have 93 everywhere

Don't worry about it. The BMW engine is designed to adapt to whatever fuel is available (this is more of an issue for GM premium models like the CTS-V).

Also your blend of 6 gallons of 87 and 16 gallons of 93 averages 91 octane which is what is recommend.

Your car is smart enough to retard the ignition to handle 87 octane even under boost.

Gas attendant filled mine up with 87 by accident... I only realized that after the car felt sluggish on the highway (have a BMS tune aswell) and then checked the gas station receipt to realize this douchebag put 87 in my car. I purchased 5 bottles of octane booster from Walmart and poured them in... car felt slightly better after a few miles of driving, but overall... I noticed a huge different in power.

Been filling 87 octane in my car 2015 X3. Have not found any issues no mileage , performance loss nada. Only bad gas that has unwanted mixture like water or not well maintained grounds can damage the engine.
