Launch Control

Does anyone else have issues with LC? I was so tired of reading many reviews of how hard and random it is to use LC so decided to try it since just got my 1200 mile service completed. You do have to get the car warmed up. I programmed my M2 button for manual 3 mode with DSC and MDM both off, so quick double push gets that set. Light touch on brake, gearshift forward, flags signal launch control active, accelerator to floor, foot off brake, ready to go. Release gearshift and keep accelerator to floor and off you go. I only let go once, but was able to easily enter LC active mode many times with no problem. It never "didn't" activate.

I still think I prefer to use D3 mode with MDM engaged and just floor it, seems to stay straighter and less wheel spin at start, shifts seem the same as LC.

Curious what others think?

Pain in the rear not worth the hassle too complicated. Not intuitive at all. Best of luck with it.

Agreed. It is not Launch "Control" in any sense of the word anyway. As the OP said, it spins.

I believe it has 800 steps so that people don't use it.

Looks good at COTA test drives and marketing. Your competitor in the Ford Mustang V6 will be gone by the time you get that thrash set.

I'm faster with DSC off in S3 and modulating throttle. LC is disappointing.

Maybe they designed it to prevent people abusing the car?

Try and adjust it. Still can't get it to launch properly. And there is a TINY percentage of owners who will ever figure that out anyway.

I can launch way better in D3/MDM.

LC is useless as tits on a boar.
Spins so bad, what is the point?
It is one thing to piss with it on your own and given time.
In a race situation or at the track it is near impossible to activate. Especially if you want to lower the RPMs. Starting out at 3500 RPM is crazy, I hope when the tunes come out we can lower the default RPM.

After i got my DCT tuned by Evolve i don't spin as bad as i did stock. The DCT actually feels like its doing alot more work to stop the wheels from spinning. I will try and get a go pro video of it soon to show you guys.

You can adjust the launch rpm by using the cruise control switch.

LC was a little frustrating at first because I was trying it in 40F deg ambient temps. Never worked and dealer couldn't figure out why. Once the ambient temps are above 40F and the temp gauge shows normal operating temps, LC is easy and quick to engage as often as I desired. Takes me literally 2 seconds to engage LC.

However, as others have found, it is not the quickest method of accelerating an M5 on the street. I've used every setting on the street and track. Best results for me are always D3 and MDM. YMMV.

LC = Fail.

DSC off, S3 modulate throttle FTW.
