Cat-less downpipe and MOT

How you lads getting round the MOT with cat-less downpipes??

I will need first MOT end of the year so plenty time to sort something out. Just wondered if anyone is fitting temporary cats into the front pipes? My plan is to buy 2 cats and weld on flanges so I can change them quickly for MOT time.

any info / ideas appreciated.

There is plenty of Garages that will do your MOT with the down pipes fitted mate, they just put the probe into a different car whilst its on the ramp and simulate the correct omissions.

its not like where robbing a Bank now is it lol.

Years ago I used to do that with my EVO5 but up hear where I live no-one will entertain that option anymore.

I agree with your "robbing a bank" statement, its pretty mickey mouse re the MOT. Might have to bite the bullet and knock up something for MOT time.

Have you got a tune so the CEL isn't on? A guy who works at a garage I use told me it might pass without them anyway so might be worth seeing if you can put it on the sniffer. I plan just to swap my original downpipes back in come MOT time. only take about 3 hours to do. Or there is another garage I know that used to MOT my S4 which was catless

no still standard. As soon as OBD flash is available with the software I use it will be stage one. Max that out then go stage 2. Should be stage one later this month.

not sure I could be bothered with 3 hour job every year then another 3 hours to re-fit. Going to look at buying cats I can quickly bolt in on the front pipes. At least that way I know it will pass with no issues.

I miss the old days lol
