why are F10 jahre prices falling so fast?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Last year jahre prices were advertised above 300k. I have been. Watching one in NC go from 200 to 180 to 159 and now it's at 129 and still not sold. Will they ever drop below 100k?
I'd sell my cp car and grab one for sure then. I would assume given the trend they will fall below 100k by 2018.

From what I've been seeing the current 2016 Pure Metal Limited Special Editions are being sold less than the usual MSRP around 133k. Many still appear to be available.

Hazard a guess and maybe something to do with this next issue having some significant feature changes like some version of xDrive, standard bhp =>600, and/or possibly the new iDrive system? Just guesses.

M5 30 Jahre was overpriced from the day first, but people wanted to be exclusive so went for it... the same thing with M6 competition edition priced at 167K MSRP. There are bunch of them sitting in dealerships for almost a year and no one want them...

Not that much but they are fully loaded. You can build almost the same car with 10+k cheaper and pay 2-3 k to add more HP to your car and overall save some monies...

Hard to get a preimium on a car when the shell has been out since 2012, and the new model is ready to launch. Why pay a premium for yesterday's model? These are parts bin cars just to keep the production line going until the new model. These cars are all big margin because all production cost have been met so it's all good dollars. Call it special edition, and it's just left over parts.

It's only a special edition when purchasing. Try and trade it in and a dealer will low ball

Well with M6 Competition Edition BMW marketing team had plan to come out with the an special fully loaded edition. Believe me or no if you want to build this car and check all boxes and add the extra CF pieces and MPE you will end up to north 165k which is the price of car but no matter how much I love BMW, if I want to pay 165k I will go with something else since that's the terittory of entry level exotic cars such as GT3, R8 , AMG GTS or even 570s

people fail to understand, these "special edition" cars mean nothing. Only a select few people want them, (when in reality there is nothing truly special that separates them from their counterparts)

Some of the folks who buy them probably don't care if they lose money, or are just plain ignorant to the fact that they will in fact lose a shit load. AND some may truly believe they will be worth something down the road. That's just foolish.

I think its cute that people clamor over the jahre, and the "pure metal" give me a break and open your eyes.

there is literally nothing special about the pure metal car, it's literally SILVER. It looks the exact same as my iridium c63. I always get a crack out of people saying "it looks so much better in person" yea, doesn't every car?

m6, don't think i know that? My buddy has a 1 or 1 m6 coupe. sticker at 165+

are the mirror caps, steering wheel, exhaust, carbon fiber, "1 of 1" imprinted inside the car worth the 40k premium? will it hold its value? will it be worth gt3 money down the road?

Didn't think so. but thank you for laying out these special options.

If you take your time and go to BMW NA car builder and build the car with the options I posted and at the end add 20K for MPE, CF rear diffuser, CF knob cover and steering wheel, then you will end up to 165+... where did you find 40k? You know what? instead of talking just do some research and then we can discuss ....
Here I made life easier for you

The only thing that is happening, the prices are coming out of la-la land and back to reality. Seriously, +200K for a 'special edition' M5 is certifiably bonkers.

Prices have been out of control. I mean an M5 that's costs as much as a new Turbo S . I'll wait until they dip below 100k and find one. For whatever reason, they are showing up for sale more so than I would of thought.

A brand new M5 is worth about 115k tops. No more than than that, no matter what special edition badge you stick on it or whatever shade of silver you paint it.

Add 5k for an M6

Add 5k on top of that for an M6 GC

The asking prices being floated for some of these cars are nuts. For cash like that buy a GT3 where at least you can kinda sell it for what you paid for it if you want out.
