Taking delivery of my UK spec F10 M5, a fitting farewell tribute to the F10 platform
Hello guys and girls, like most I have been a long time lurker, reading the many posts which pop up for those of you fortunate enough to not only experience ownership of this amazing car, but also many of you who are even more fortunate to experience European delivery at the same time.
I can remember the first time I went to my local dealer when I knew the F10 M5 had finally arrived in showrooms, and I fell in love instantly. It was Monte Carlo blue with Silverstone interior, and I even dragged my wife to see it.. she agreed it was a beautiful car, subtle but menacing a perfect family car eh? The years past and I felt many a time to pull the trigger, but in all honesty couldn't justify it.. I had a new born on the way at my first temptation of purchasing one, but didn't follow it through.. yet i continued to work hard.. we then planned to purchase a car the following year, and we were then blessed yet again with another child. I had achieved a good deal on a M5 but something still didn't feel right, so I did the most mature thing i could do in this situation and I walked away hesitantly... I continued to work hard when and where I could, and both myself and my wife put our priorities first, which was taking care of our children, paying for pre school, and trying to invest for both their futures.. but bless my wife she supported me the whole time and never let my dream of owning this car die, even when I was happy to let the dream be just that.. a dream. Fast forward another year or so, to only a few months back. I knew the end of production of the F10 platform was virtually on the horizon, so I casually began talking to a few recommended dealers to put the feelers out (Thank you for those members on this forum kind enough to offer their contacts up). When I did finally get down to the wire and place an order, believe it or not my order was rejected due to the initial dealer failing to realise there was a deadline to place individual orders, which had already passed. This was starting to feel like it just wasn't meant to be. At this stage I ended any further discussions with that particular dealer, and made it clear i would not be proceeding with any deal now or in the future with them. However BMW UK were fantastic in trying to still salvage and help me achieve a special order M5, and a gentleman called Richard Heath at BMW UK Customer Service offered a great 1-2-1 service, liasing with me about allocations from dealers awaiting their orders and if I would be interested in any of those potential vehicles. Fortunately for me, Richard had a great eye in finding a well spec'd brand new end of production F10 M5. He gave the dealer the heads up on my situation, and after some discussions we were able to make the numbers work! The last hurdle, was showing the wife the NEW colour, as it was a big contrast to my initial order, but I'm a firm believer in things happening for a reason and she told me in a flash, this M5 " is the one", after seeing some pictures sent by the dealer. So here it is, my end of production 2016 competition pack F10 M5, in individual San Marino Blue with Silverstone interior I would like to thank BMW Westerley Exeter for their fantastic experience and service, they have my future business for sure as they not only delivered on what they said they would, but they offered a great deal and experience upon my purchase. I would like to particularly highlight and thank the general sales manager Vince Mann, who not only wanted to do a deal which I appreciated, but could see it would be going to a good home despite my initial trouble ordering from a different dealer. Also sales executive Peter Phipps for the countless emails, phone calls and pictures and videos of the car (nothing felt like it was too much to ask), and business manager Ethan Hall for his time and care with answering all my questions. Myself and my wife were treated with much respect and care as the dealer was a 3 hour drive out of London from our home. Vince the general manager, in fact was so intent on my buying experience and handover being one of ease, that he offered to put my wife and I in a hotel , which was literally a stones throw away from the dealer at no cost extra cost. Just so we could get a good nights sleep before collection and for the long drive back. Thank you to Jake & Ryan for explaining and demonstrating all the gadgets in the car too! I would also like to thank the following forum members who i gathered a lot of information from whilst searching for a vehicle also. Stealth.pilot, RPiM5, M5essex, johnbmwm5 & NISFAN. Here are a few pictures below. Enjoy! And so glad to be part of this community! Apologies for being so delayed with posting this thread, it's been a hectic last couple of months.

Well done sir, well done!
I think that a lot of people take it for granted just how hard it is to be able to get your dream car. For some it comes earlier in life, for others later, but no matter when it comes, all that matters is that you love it and appreciate it while you have it. You did the right thing many times, by putting your wife and your family first, and now that I know your entire story I have a new level of respect for you. I feel that the particular F10 M5 you have is one of a kind, not only because it's a special color, but because of the efforts you endured to find her. I have always thought that it takes a special kind of person to own an M5 as it's not the most nimble car, or the best handling, or the fastest from 0-60, but it's got that something that so many sports car enthusiasts never get to experience because all of their sports cars are so focused on being just that without regard to usability, comfort, convenience, class, and technology that only an M5 can offer, all the while outrunning them on the highway or besting their lap times too. The next M5 will be tidal wave of performance but you should hold on to yours for many years as it represents the best that a RWD Sports Sedan can be.

Amazing story; I bought my first M car (and a M5 at that) this past August. It has been my dream car since god knows when. My first BMW was the E60 528i (stripped to the bones) in 2008. When BMW offered the crazy residuals this past summer and it coincided with a MASSIVE promotion at work, I jumped at the deal. I still can't believe I get to drive a M5 daily. Incredibly thankful!

I do feel very blessed and hope that feeling never goes away tbh On a side note: I never realised how much this car liked to be tail happy even on a barely wet day.. very Jekyll and Hyde type character I am noticing.. adds to the demeanour. I do have a respect for this machine already I have to say
