Arrival of the Great Pumpkin
After starting with a 528e (!) in the 1980s and progressing thru a 530i, 540i, 545i and 550i, I've finally reached the pinnacle of 5er-dom - my first M5.
I had planned on waiting for the LCI since the first spy pics, but got a smokin' deal on a car in my dealer's inventory that was spec'd EXACTLY as I wanted (according to another dealer that I was speaking with, this car was the only Sakhir M5 6MT available in the country). I'm not sure where I go from here as it looks like this will be my last MT after driving nothing but them for the last 35 years. I know that the auto-manual change will be forced upon me, but I don't have to think about that now . . . I got a great 250 mile drive in yesterday and can't find any more words to add to what has already been said about the beast. I'm going to put it away for the next month or so until we finish up winter here in the northeast and while I do a few mods. I'll be calling IND in the morning! btw, are there any coders out there in the Boston area? I'd love some experienced help. Here's a couple of pics from Friday's delivery. The first one is of the old King along side of the new King. One change at a time.

First, congratulations on the good deal on the new car you wanted! Don't believe salesmen..... there is a MT Sakhir sitting in the showroom here in the outpost of west Michigan.

btw, were you referring to the SO at Sharpe? It's listed as a MT, but the pics are of a DCT. It also doen't have full leather which would have been a non-starter for me.

Ahh, you looked more closely at the car than I did. I saw it on their site after a friend told me he'd seen it in the showroom. I only looked at the specs below the large photo. That's poor that they would wrongly list such a basic component of the car, and perhaps one of the reasons I bought mine from Ziegler in Kalamazoo.

BMW of Towson (MD) has a SO 6MT listed as well, but the picture shows a DCT. I can understand how a used car dealer gets it wrong, but it is embarrassing when a BMW dealer does it.
Congratulations on the new car. I'm still trying to find a 6MT for a test drive within an hour or so of DC. |
