Windshield tinting

Anyone has tinted their front windshield? I'm interested in getting the 3M crystalline CR90 for it and wondering if it affects clarity, weird optical effects with polarized sunglasses, and if they interfere with the HUD display clarity.

I have done it before in past cars. It looks really nice during the day time and keeps the car cooler but at night it can become a hazard. If you get tires it becomes difficult to see through it. If you do tint it do something like 50% or even higher if you can find it.

Crystalline CR90 is 90% - virtually clear. I spoke to my local tint shop and he said that it is virtually clear and will not interfere with the HUD. The only concern he mentioned is the rainbow effect when wearing polarized sunglasses.

I did 55 percent with the normal film. No interference with HUD at all and the rainbow affect is barley noticeable

How much did your local tint shop charge for the CR90?

I only got a quote since they are booked all the way out to late September.

CR40 rears, CR60 front, and CR90 windshield - quote was for $1100. $300 for the windshield alone.

Thanks man! I want the clear UV resistant tint to keep the heat down. I'll have to look into it somewhere down here in So.Cal.

The clarity seems to improve when after the product is applied, the heat rejects is great as well. I have Running CR70 on windshield, CR50 on all the other windows...

Also HUD looks the same no changes at all, that was a concern of mine as well.

Does this affect the HUD auto brightness adjustment? I really like how the HUD automatically (and quite quickly and effectively) adjusts its brightness based on the ambient lighting as you come in and out of the sun.

I had SunTek CXP 55 put on the windsheild and it seems to have helped the HUD by providing a darker backdrop for the image to appear against.

Has anyone tried AirBlue 80. Is Suntek or 3M Crystalline going to be better?

I have Madico Wincos on all my windows and like it much better than the Crystalline I had in my last M5. No issues whatsoever on front windshield with HUD, sunglasses, or night visibility. Heat reduction is amazing and I have a triple black car. 70% on windshield and you'd be hard pressed to know its there. 45% on the rest of the car which when combined with the factory tinted glass reads about 30%.

I have done this to multiple cars in the past with as low as 20% in the windshield no visibility issues , there's also a bad ass cool looking lighter film called atr by lumar films that blocks more heat then a 5% but is in 50%
