I place this on all my cars and will continue to do so in future.

I use OziCosi in Sydney - not sure what film they use but their work is brilliant.

Did a full front end on my 991 911 Carrera S - headlights, bumpers, full hood, front side panels and mirrors.

Same on the wife's Mazda SUV.

On the M5 - I will take delivery in 2 weeks!!! - i am doing full front and sides - same a 991 but adding front and rear doors and rear 3/4 panels.

Best thing I ever did to protect the paint!

The first 1/4 or 1/3 of a hood will pick up rock chips if not protected, at least that's my experience.

Lets see if we can find someone good in Columbus. Don't wanna drive to Cincy and sit all day there for this work. I'll also check with my CA once I come back from vacation.

Question, would you guys recommend putting the clear bra
If you lived in south Florida? Is it affected by over exposure to sun and UV?

I had my M5 done by Invisible Car Bras in Melbourne and also asked for the A pillars and the front edge of the roof (in front of the sunroof). It looks very tidy - like part of a pre-cut kit - so you might want to ask OziCozi about it. What's your colour, btw?

Hi!

Sapphire black on black leather with the aluminium trim.

Thanks for the heads up about the roof and A-Pillars - will definitely get them to do it!

What colour is your M5 and how are you enjoying the M5???

Mine is MCB/Silverstone. Love the car but getting time to drive it is the problem. I'm hoping to drive it to Sydney for New Years. The family will insist on flying though...

2 weeks to wait - that's tough!

I have seen these guys posting on some forums and their work looks pretty impressive.

Definitely wouldn't be a problem in Florida. And most (all?) clear bras are UV-transparent, which means that they'll actually allow UV through so the paint underneath the clear bra will fade the same as your unprotected paint so you don't end up with a two-tone effect a few years in.

Great gouge in here, thanks for all the info. I've never used Xpel before but now I'm sold. Any recommendations on a provider in the DC metro area? My M5 arrives this week and I'd like to schedule this service.

Where in chicago are you getting it done? I have been looking around and most of the xpel recommended installers don't really use it or they prefer the 3M products. I haven't yet found anyone that primarily installs the xpel.

Premier are quite widely regarded as one of if not the best place in the country to have a 'clear bra' installed. I had my '10 R8 covered in their Satin Guard and it was the highest quality install I've ever seen and I've had a 'clear bra' installed on about 15 cars now. Like most things in life you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

clear bra

So, what clear bra should I go with? Dealer offered 3M for the front bumper and the hood, but isn't there better out there?

Xpel Ultimate.

Be careful using 'installers' that dealerships recommend. They tend to go with the cheapest bid and you do get what you pay for. Check with the local PCA and BMW clubs for the best installer in the area. Get it done right and the quality of the install, (which counts for everything in this regard) will be very evident.

Thanks, just wanted to see if I could get it done at the dealer as I won't be able to pick it up for a little while. Guess, I'll wait and get it done when I get back to Houston.

So I got a quote for Xpel Ultimate for my M5 here in DC: full hood, fenders, mirrors, and front bumper for $2049. Seems like considerably more than what everyone else is mentioning?

Yes I received an equally wide range of quotes. Just shop around but also check credentials. Most expensive and cheapest are often not the best.

Wrapped my new MCB M5 with VentureShield (front bumper, splitter, full bonnet, A pllars wing mirror, front fenders, door cups and top of rear bumper) and could not be happier - job was v well done. In fact I also covered my front windscreen with Llumar film as well.

Just got the Xpel Ultimate installed; full hood, bumper, fenders, and mirrors. Very pleased...except I can't drive the car until the replacement oil pump arrives
