Talking Amazing Results w/ Modesta BC-5 Houston

I took the plunge thanks to Dionysus post and info he provided on Modesta.

***DISCLAIMER(I suck at taking photos)*****

John from Gulf Coast Auto Shield worked on the car over two days and it took a total of 20hrs including the prep and polish. I can't describe how happy I am with the coating. The look is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He finished at 11:30pm last night so we could not take any really good photos. This morning it was raining but i did manage to get some. The photos just don't do this coating justice. I can say that the water just beaded away. When I arrived at my destination this morning you could not even tell it has rained on the M5! All the water had bedded off (sure the wind helps some). VERY COOL

The feel of the coating is something I have not experienced before. It hard to describe/nail down. Very smooth and almost much like the new iPad air touch screen. At one point John told me I had to stop touching it! I could not resist.

John guided me on some better washing practices and walked me through each step of the prep, polish and coating. He took off cleaned and coated all the rims, calipers, exhaust, glass and lenses with Opti coat pro, lens, glass, and Modesta BC-5 for the paint. He was very meticulous and worked his A** for two days. John also installed Opti Coat Pro on our Infiniti QX. I am excited to be able to compare the two coatings side by side =).

I will keep you guys posted how they fair over time.

GLOSS, GLOSS and More GLOSS

THANKS JOHN!!!!!!!!!!!

Car looks great - nice colour combo (I may be somewhat biased on the interior ).

Modesta cures fully over couple of weeks, so you should notice slight improvement in beading/sheeting & gloss levels over time. My car gets thoroughly abused (not garaged, etc.); when cleaned the paintwork beads/sheets water the same a the glass - it's the first sealant from which I've got that result (now 3 months in).

My car is free from swirls so far; at times makes me wish I'd gone for darker colour.

If John didn't already detail engine bay plastics, I can recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant (I also use on door seals).

Were you taught the 'two bucket' wash method?

Too soon to make a final judgement but I do have one car with each coating.

You can clearly feel the difference between the two and the Modesta provides much more of a glossy finish than Opti.

My car with Modesta got rained on the day after it was coated but it dried quickly / beaded as was dry.

Opti does not have the same effect.

We will have to see how they fair over time.

Sounds intreating... How does the cost comparison to opti-guard and is this a product that's fairly mainstream? Will it be difficult to find a detailer that can apply it?

I had to ask my Opti dealer to contact modesta and order it for me. He also had to buy IR lights required to cure the glass coating. The product is more costly thank Opti I would expect it to run you 2-300 more than Opti.

Thumbs up

John also coated the Turbo S this week. It turned out awesome.

Sorry for the poor iPhone shots.

Our Infiniti QX that has Opti Coat Pro will also be getting Modesta. It is proving to be that much better. Very impressed with the product.

Not easy to tell from the iPhone pics, but has it added much gloss to black?
