Any chemical solution? Just damp microfiber?

I ask because I damaged my F10 550 screen "trying" to clean it.

I just don't get how they can put such a delicate screen in a car for gods sake!

They get dirty!!!! sigh.

Garage List
How I do it

With the cloth that comes with the i-pad, easy. Never use paper tissues.

Thanks Man. It's one of the worst parts of BMW. Why can't they install a screen that can be simply wiped down. Great advice!

try the two microfiber cloth.

brand new.

One damp
One dry

straight across wiping (very gently) on the damp
then straight across wiping on the dry

No circular motion !! That's important

That's about the best advice I can give. Proceed with caution.

Thanks!

Like I said, why does it have to be so complicated to clean the screen? My brother cleaned the screen in his acura with the same cloth he wiped the snot off his kids face with. And it looked great afterward! LOL

just think of it as you are a brain surgeon and getting ready to operate on a patient (M5).

Lots of TLC is a must !

spray a light mist of 1Z einszett Cockpit on a clean mf towel and lightly wipe the dust and finger prints off the screen.

I realize you are the man in regards to detailing Phil, but have you or someone you know well, used it on the newer BMW nav screens? Also is there a specific MF towel you would recommend for the job?

Also make sure you never use the edges of the Microfiber cloth unless the cloth does not have sewn edges

This is how I cleaned the nav screen.

Used a clean Swiffer duster to carefully remove all the dust.

After washing and drying the Uber Interior Microfiber Towel, I sprayed it with some 1Z einszett Cockpit Premium cleaner.

Then using a LED flashlight I carefully buffed it until all streaks were gone.

This worked wonders, I've very happy with the results. Good luck!

Weird you have a thread on this
Just got my car from service and there's a line through the whole screen that I am certain wasn't there before they cleaned my car -
Don't know what to do...
Can hardly see it whike Navigation is on but I know it's there and my brain sees it -
Sigh

Sorry soooma, but you should never let the dealership clean/wash your car.

I thought they just replaced your nav unit? Could be something wrong with the new screen or they scratched it whan they did the install. If it were me, I would point it out and request that they address it.

I use a can of compressed air to get rid of all the dust first ever since I scratched the nav screen on my 550. The instrument cluster is just as easy to scratch. Feel like I'm defusing a bomb every time - muy careful.
