This is why I got that area protected with Suntek clearbra (the Xpel template covers the rocker panels and the lowest part of the doors all the way back to the lower part of the rear bumper.

I suggest you fix it with doctor color chip and get the area clearbra'd

Bummer...but it makes me feel better about my rather expensive investment in XPEL. My rockers still look mint.

If you want a good installer, I have one in SD.

Try putting some kerosene on a rag and wiping the paint. That looks a lot like residue from asphalt and not chips. Wash the area when you're done to get rid of the kerosene and you should be good. Not saying there couldn't be a few actual paint chips in there too, but certainly not all of that is chipped.

Use quick detailer and a clay bar. Alternatively try meguiars scratchx which is also great for removing baked in debris.

Never seen anything like this - I'm sure if u just run a finger over them they will feel raised as opposed to chipped.

Guys better lighting today and it is definitely road rash/chips. Tried a tar remover and goo gone, got a bit off but still looks like crap up close. That black you see in the pic is the plastic underneath the paint.

That sucks - makes me think I should clear bra this part as well.

On a side note - I notice you have a C63 as well, what's the difference like going from the C63 to the M5? I currently have the C63 and can't wait to get into DCT versus the auto tranny in my 2009.

Do you drive on gravelly roads or something? I realize the edge of the tires stick out past the skirt but still this seems excessive. I'm at 4800 miles with no chips in this area.

Even though I have the clearbra on the lower door and rockers, this news makes me think twice about getting spacers.

I LOVE my C63, its an 09 with the P30 package (Composite brakes, LSD, upgraded suspension, etc) The M5 is completely different car than the C63.

Things C63 does better than M5

1) Exhaust Sound..AMG has this nailed
2) Handling
3) Drive Feel...(It's a much smaller car duh)

Things M5 does better than C63

1) Straight Line Performance. M5 is a beast!!! Crushes the C63, but the C63 hangs close up to 60MPH.
2) DCT is amazingly quick...but for an auto tranny, the C63 is one of the best i've ever had
3) Much more comfortable car. Seats, Cabin, etc
4) Gas Mileage
5) much better interior

Overall M5 is a better car, but C63 is so much fun and definitely a keeper in my eyes.

Evan does a fantastic job and is now using the latest XPEL ultimate templates. RPiM5 and I used him.

I've had similar rock chips/debris damage on my sideskirts directly behind front wheel. My car is BSM. I'm washing my car tomorrow and will take a couple of pictures and post them for comparison. Also, my front bumper has already been destroyed by rock chips and I'm only at 6700 miles.
