Will the M5 LCI get hp boost?

As per this thread: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=798741

The LCI 550i gets hp boost, can we expect the same for the LCI M5? It would make sense to be able to compete with the E63 AMG's AWD 585hp.

I doubt it, if it does, it would be a slap to our face.

Highly highly doubt it. They may release a performance pack of another SE addition of car. Not a thing BMW would do. Anyhow its already too fast for its own good. Can barely put down all the power.

No... It's pretty much confirmed that the LCI is coming. July production so August/September deliveries...

I doubt we'll see any power gains but def getting the upgraded lights as per usual with an LCI model

The 5 series is confirmed but there has been no confirmation of whether it will affect the M5 - just speculation and assumption

The most recent M car to get the LCI was the X5 M and the M version got it one year later than the normal version.

Everyone who currently has a F10 M5 will tell you no LCI, no HP gains.

Everyone who doesn't yet have an M5 will tell you the opposite.

All confirmation biases aside, Im shooting or an August ED, because its a fantastic car either way.

Yes I know...and I don't believe there will be any changes to the engine or performance.

But look at the E60 M5... It got the updated LED tail lights and headlights (without the orange reflector in them) as well as some minor changes on the centre console of the dash. I think we will see similiar changes for the M5 LCI. We can also look at the E92 M3 LCI, it kept the exact same headlights from the non LCI model (just like the E46 M3 did), but the E92 M3 LCI did get the new updated LED tails!

I would say that is a fair and reasonable speculation/assumption...but only time will tell

+1 although, as you say, it's all speculation. Like the E60 and F01, this will be a minor refresh so it's easy to incorporate. And I just don't see BMW offering something like LED headlamps on the lesser 5ers and not on the range-topping M5.

LCI M models have not experienced any power gains. X6 M, X5M, and E9x M3s didn't see any gains. Not expecting any. If there is a bump in HP, I won't mind. This thing is plenty fast.

Not sure I agree as confirmed means someone has proof it's going to happen. Regardless I did ED last fall, and would do it all over again. My M5 is a keeper for along time like my 2006 650ci as I don't flip cars trying to add to what's new, and I only get rid of a car when I have no room in the garage. Four is my max, and my next M car will be if I like to new body style several years away 700hp(: It nice the oil pump discussion finally died! Enjoy your cars.

I feel sorry for all the NY owners this weather is terrible, and you have to park your car. I live in two states, and NY would never see my M5 this weather is brutal.

I dont get why people are so sure the LCI is coming for the M5. I for one dont believe it is and noone will know anyways until BMW announces it late spring. Everything is just a guess as far as im concerned. Four months ago when LCI pics came out for the regular F10 people were also so sure the F10 M5 would get the character line.

What are the trade-offs of flying M>.92 down low? Can you really go M1.2 NOE? Woohoo!!

Double ugly rhino here

We may be in Europe about the same time; plan to take the M6 vert through Scotland for single malts, Ireland for Guinness and Jameson, and finally along the Loire River valley into Paris - about 30-40 days.

Well it's relative... low-alt gives terrain masking, stay below radar horizon, etc. For a B-1, without forward firing ordnance, speed is life. So high speed is good for ingress or egress, but we have to slow, and sometimes climb, for weapons release.

The fastest I've been at 500AGL was still at a relatively high Pressure Altitude because of the terrain elevation (I'll let you guess where - hint: sonic booms are sometimes a wanted thing to help 'influence' the tide of a firefight). However as you get lower and the air gets thicker, the dynamic pressure over the wings of the B-1 can cause wingtip flutter on the variable swept wings -- eventually we have to stay below about .95Mach - but at that speed most fighters will run out of gas trying to keep up.

Sorry for the thread jack -- now back on point. Can anyone look at the new headlights (like the ones in Vic55's new M6) and say they don't want those for their 2014 M5?

Not me. The style of the LED headlamps is the single biggest reason that I'm delaying my ED from May to September. That, and I'm hoping for an M6 syle steering wheel, adjustable side bolsters and the iDrive touch (I've used Audi's system and it's fantastic).

The LCI 550i is just putting the same engine in there that's already been in the 650i and the 550 Gran Turismo for a year. So it's not anything particularly new. I'd expect power bump for the M5 for the 2016 model year.

There will be no power boost for the LCI.

If the 2014 M5 got a power boost, then it would have more power than the more expensive 2014 M6 Gran Coupe. I don't see that happening. It's common sense.

At best they will offer a M Performance tune.

My own belief is that the M5 won't receive a power increase at all during the entire production run, unless it is tied to the release of an AWD model. Otherwise the car will have too much power. BMW cares too much about driveability.

You're betting the 2014 M5 will have more power than the 2014 M6 Gran Coupe which costs $30k more. I don't think so.

OK, I guess you can infer that I thought there might be a power boost, since I dont yet have an M5 and was a bit vague.

My guess (because that's really all anyone can do at this point, for the M5) is that we will see the cosmetic upgrades that the 5 series LCI gets.. this is from a factory production standpoint; way to easy to incorporate.

Seat bolsters are a big hope, but as stealth has previsously pointed out, no guarantees. I think that since they are in euro-spec M5s and even the new sport 3-series have them, they should be offered in all 5 series sport packages, to include the M5, starting with MY14.

Power increase? I don't see it happening, either. The only way we would see any change is if, for ease of production reasons, they wanted commonality of engine across M5, M6, and M6GC for MY14 - in other words all S63Tu would have to be bumped for MY14 - and I dont think that will happen.

And finally yes, I do think people will pay some will pay $30k for a GC over a M5, even if the M5 ends up being more powerful -- I am just not one of them; I think the GC looks like someone sat on top of a 5-series and squished it.

Whoa guys whoa! Where's the wingman consideration? Where's the checkin your wingman's six? As two pilots that fly the stealth fighter and the B-1 Bomber, you should be requesting a flyby on the tower together. As a fellow Naval Aviator myself, we always say "you can be my wingman anytime; bullshit, you can be mine." LOL! Just playing guys!

I just think it's comical that two pilots are dogfighting here on the forums. The way I see it, it goes something like this:

F10 M5 Sedan = B1 Bomber (Supersonic Bomber with Nuclear Strike Capability)
F12 M6 Coupe = F-117 Stealth Fighter (Can get in out of the Battlespace without being detected)
F06 M6 Gran Coupe = B-2 Stealth Bomber (Best of both worlds but with great Stealth Capability).
