Factory Model Designation Deletion

Can anyone tell me whether this option (believe it's 320) deletes the M5 emblem from the front grill and sides as well as the rear?

Also, is it possible to remove emblem in grill without damaging the grill?

I just went through this entire process.

Option 320 only removes the rear deck badge. It does not remove the side grill badges or the badge on the front. I went round and round with BMW NA because it is insane to have an option that only removes 25% of the exterior badges.

I ended up ordering the black kidney grill. It gets rid of the chrome and also doesn't have the badge. It was $185, but since the car was being ordered the port can now install factory accessories and they don't charge for labor.

I believe that there is a DIY on how to change the grill, but I think it takes an hour or two. You cannot just remove the badge from the standard front grill. It is attached.

You have a couple options for the side grills. I went with Turner Motorsport and got the carbon fiber replacements. They do not have the ///M5 badge on them. Install is less than 30 minutes, but I got the dealership to do it before delivery.

I've got a pic of the car in on of the other threads and you can see the front and side grill with no badges.

Thank you very much for this information.

Are you saying that the front grill is ordered through BMW and delivered direct to dealer, and they will install free of charge?

I ordered my front grill during the build of the car. It is listed on the window sticker as an option and the Port installed it when it got to the states off of the boat.

If you order it directly from the dealership after the car arrives you will probably have to either install it yourself or pay labor at the dealership.

So what other things can you order while your car is in production? I have the feeling when I ask to order my salesman will give me a blank stare...

Not sure I know of anything else. Being able to add factory accessories at the port is a new new thing as of 1/1/14. It also means that you can roll the cost of those items into a lease as well.

Hi, can you tell me if it's the same grill (two slot) on the M5 other than without chrome and without badge?

It is not the double slot grill. Not sure when that one will be available.

I feel like we got hosed paying $185 for the regular 5er grille only black. Shouldn't have ordered accessory grille. LCI M5 grille has to be worth quite a bit more. Could have sold it and just bought cheap accessory grill.

Why would you go from the new grill back to the old grill?

It's currently the only way to remove the badge up front.

Front grill can be removed without the bumper being removed. Takes like 2 seconds to pull off. I've done this several times without breaking tabs.
