Thanks but our tour is on Monday late afternoon , so should be a little quieter than a Friday afternoon . We also have a tour at M Studio at 2pm so will be half way and have
time to spare to get to Dingolfing.

Which tour is provided on the regular ED trip? Is it this plant mentioned as a group tour instead of private or are there separate ones? Is there a separate M Factory?

The regular tour is the one in Munich where the 3 series is produced.
The Dingolfing plant is the one where the 5(M),6(M), 7 and Rolls Royce chassis are
produced

There's no separate M factory . Dingolfing is a more interesting tour as it's more
interactive and not as sterile as the Munich tour (Munich has pre-defined walkways/tour where at the Dingolfing plant tour you actually walk throughout the factory and grounds.

You can also book a private tour (~100 euro) for up to 30 people .

Yep.
But you can also invite up to 30 people at no cost to them
When I organized our tour I invited fellow BMW owners taking delivery around the same time to join us .
We ended up being 8 people which was still small enough for some extra detours in the factory.

Thanks to JMH I can say the Dingolfing tour was really great. The wife and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

The company we work for has many Plant, Ship, and Offshore customers so walking through a managed area, manufacturing, and construction environment is something I have done on many occasions.

The Dingolfing tour was much more "realistic" or "down to earth" if you prefer and not a bunch of kool-aid. For example, the guide could have been anyone off the street - no fancy suits, queue cards, or theatrics.

This tour is only on Fridays. If you did this tour would you do it on October 11th?

If so I might be interested to join if I can get a ride there...

The tour can be privately booked for any day and almost any time (ours was at 6pm)
If you like BMWs it likely is more interesting than castles ...
It's a lot of walking and will last ~2+hrs
It's more individual than the Munich tour as it doesn't really follow a strict path but you get to see a number of places close up

I've seen lots of castles...in lots of countries. Tour was better, but I'm biased as I have an engineering background and own an M5.

That may rule it out then. We will be in Baden Baden on Friday. I spoke with the Welt and they gave me the phone number to call Dingolfing @ 49 (0) 89 382 15750. I am going to call Monday and see if we can do a private tour on the 7th. I will give you a ride on the 7th of I can set it up =)
