ALPHA Tuning development - 645whp and over 600tq!!!
Not that long ago we put a post up here looking for a donor car to do some custom ECU tuning now that we finally had the ability to crack into the F10 ECU set. http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1067770
IND's customer "John" was nice enough to step up to the plate. While we are not done just yet the power numbers as of today are pretty fantastic. The test car had the following done to it when it came into AMS/ALPHA Performance: AMS/ALPHA 90mm Catted downpipes Full Eisenmann Exhaust GruppeM Airbox set This car baselined about 550whp and just over 500tq. After our president and head tuner Martin Musial spent some time on it we picked up a staggering 95whp and over 100ft lbs of torque totaling 643whp and 606 tq...again TO THE WHEELS! The blue line is Johns car as it came in to AMS with a stock tune. The red Line represents after our custom tune. It's important to note these are not glory runs. These were average pulls, some of the cold runs were even higher. The Green line is of a stock M5 that came into our shop a while ago...simply for reference. Compare the green and red to see what this setup would do vs a stock car. Now the tune isn't done as we have some polishing to do but the gains cannot be ignored. I think the first ALPHA 7 M5 was just born Last edited by AMS ALPHA; 01-14-2015 at 08:35 AM.. |

Excellent news! I think many of us hope you will have the ability to eliminate the top speed limit of 155 MPH, are you able to do that? Are you also able to eliminate the CEL from the use of catless downpipes? I assume that would mean you are able to change the setting of the O2 sensors so that a fuel mixture for more HP may be used without a CEL? Will you be able to provide different levels of tune with just the ECU tune and no additional hardware? Thanks for keeping us informed.

Can you explain the HP peaks and troughs between 2500-3750K RPM? Also max HP is about 5250K RPM and the difference is really impressive, why is the slope of HP loss after that so steep? Is that due to the stock turbos? Thanks.

I believe maximum hp is around 6200rpm. 5200 is where maximum torque is, usually where stock and chipped mercedes 63's get max power.....

With the aggressive cams of the s63tu and ~23psi holding to 7500rpm, we should see over 800-850hp , turbos/fuel may run out of steam well before....

Interesting result however the behavior of engine at 2500-3500 (low end) as well as 6000-7000 (top end) is kinda weird!

Not so amazing to me..
Yes the figures are good. But Leib Engineering did manage to get the same numbers out of the M5 of M-Bitious with a better torque curve. BR-Performance is reached also figures nearly the same like this. |
