'Friday' build quality...

I've heard an occasional distant metallic clinking noise on my car since new, a rattle from the exhaust when lifting off at high revs (4000+) and an occasional distant rattle on very rough roads (didn't asked for this to be investigated as I didn't want the dealership taking the car apart at risk of introducing more rattles). Dealership did 'general adjustments' at break in service resulting in elimination of the exhaust rattle (good exhaust noise also subdued ) and the clinking noise.

Washed the car today and found the following (checked previous photos and has been there since I picked up new from the dealership)...

It's only taken me just under 4 months to spot this

You've been screwed. Wow. Can that be removed or will they have to replace the whole light housing?

That's like a surgeon leaving a pair of scissors in your body after closing up your incision. OUCH! It must have been the supplier of the taillights.

That sounds like something a service dept would say (just kidding).

can u tell me more about it please? or u think screwdriver is the reason of it?

i am getting some distant metallic noise as well, however my one is not clinking, it is more like metallic whistling every now and then, but i dont know how to address it to my SA/mechanic, it comes sometimes every second day, sometimes it doesnt come at all... and whenever it comes during the dealers opening hours and i am on the way it disappears

from what i hear it comes from passenger's side (rhd drive)

The clinking noise on my was only really heard with windows open and then only really on rougher roads. I initially thought it was suspension related but exhaust rattle made be suspect exhaust mount, etc. This got cured along with the exhaust, however, Sales Advisor was unable to determine what 'general adjustments' actually meant on the job card. Fixing it may have involved a wooden mallet hence I didn't pursue an answer as not really too concerned as long as it's fixed

Screw in tail light is a different fault. Sorry but that doesn't help you, and I feel your pain - our MB had an issue with it's gearbox (not the right forum in which to go into the details) which took over a year and numerous attempts to fix - sorted now & car is running as effortlessly as you would expect from a MB. You could try recording it (the mic on the GoPro Hero Black 3+ is actually quite good - I have a clip of the CP exhaust that I need to get round to posting). Other than that, persistence with sales department, if that fails polite call to UK customer services helps prioritise your car (note that I have not had to resort to that with BMW).

By looking at the pictures you'd think it shouldn't be that hard to spot...
