New Engine Yes NO N63 and Doubtful

Recently purchased a 2011 F10 550i N63 engine and the car overall is gorgeous inside and out and I've owned a half dozen beamers but I think I may have met my match. With a 132K miles and having read stories about this engine, I think it's time to sing the Blues. So, my thoughts are the following and hope to receive feedback from your experiences.

I bought the car for 10K

1. Option 1, take to accredited shop and have them go through the motor....? Chain and guides/valve guides/turbo leak inspection
2. Have a shop just replace the valve guide seals
3. Off-load the car immediately after getting the Title in my name and take the loss as I'll have to pay uncle same for the new purchase.

I reviewed many videos on the N63 breakdown and come close to doing it myself but that I'm lacking the car lift, I can acquire everything else...mini lift, engine stand, timing kits.

My emotional thought is I spent 10K for the car and spend another 10K to make it right and enjoy the car for the next five years and then off-load.....?

Garage List
We have a 550 with similar mileage and although it consumes oil at a greater rate than we like the car is in great shape. Probably the worst thing on the car is the curb rash in the wheels but you have to be very close to see it.

The car is still a delight to drive and almost prefer it over my M6. Parts and aftermarket after plentifully available and suspect this will be the case for the next 5 to 10 years. There is a wealth of knowledge for diyer's in the public domain. So we are strongly considering buying a rebuilt long block and having it installed by an indie shop. We do work on our own cars at home a lot but like you pointed out the engine swap is not very home diyer friendly.

In terms of modern 5 series or other cars, there are some clever new technologies integrated but haven't driven anything yet that has so greatly improved the driving experience that was compelling enough to inspire us to buy.

This may be a good story

Just when I was ready to give up I had this light go off in my head and a idea to investigate private BMW repair specialists. Good ole Craigslist and found someone local in CT who is BMW certified and conducts home repairs. Turns out this guy is very legit so for $3600 and a M5 drop-off at his home shop, I'm having the valve guide seals replaced. While in there, other Misc. items will be addressed if need be.

The Mechanic hasn't seen issues with the timing belt and guides in the past and that's my biggest concern but he's not seen them in the past with the N63 engine repairs which he's completed at least 20 N63 valve guide seal repairs.

Any other items to consider while the top end is clear?
Obvious new plugs after the seal replacement....
