My man Boots!

I gotta thank RPIM5 (Dave) for suggesting I meet up with Boots in Houston. I forgot how powerful the beast is and Boots kept telling me push it up to the "posted speed limit" on the road. Now that I'm back in Texas, I will definitely catch up with him and his crew! Thanks Boots!

Awesome! Yeah Boots told me about your visit. How much fun is his exhaust setup?!?!?! Did you expect the M5 to sound, perform, and handle like that?! Most people are boggled by the sound of an RPi GTM with RPi Downpipes. Boots is a good man and you can feel why this community is so tight. The thing with the RS7 and E63 AMG aftermarket exhaust options is that the exhaust note sounds SO throaty and muscle-ey, like a big block American V8. Nothing wrong with that, it just doesn't sound exotic though.

It's always a good day when you meet a stand up member from another state. Cory came down to Houston and after giving him a brief test drive I wanted him to see if he could tame the beast. Rpi products and bms did their job. Well this time the beast won. Lol. But I'll let Cory tell you. We had a great time and hopefully his next visit will be on one of our country runs.

Yeah, Boots is definitely telling the truth...if today was an UFC/MMA event, the M5 made me tap out! Those pipes have a nice sound too and there is no comparison to the stock exhaust. Today also confirms what I said about having that car in DC metro area - you cannot fully enjoy the full range that car offers in that area...especially during the winter.

Welcome to Dallas, it sounds like the M5 could be a winner. I've lived in this area most of my life (with the exception of 6 years in LA) and I've only owned rear-wheel drive cars (current DD is a C63). AWD is overkill because there are no canyon roads, hills, or enough snow/ice to warrant the additional weight (IMO). My biggest concern is driving on my PSS tires year round - I do occasionally get the traction control light flashing during cooler temps (35-55 degrees), but the nanny system keeps me in line.

Best of luck on your decision.

PS: How was college life?

Appreciate the welcome and Dallas is treating me well so far. What do you do when the temps fall below 35 degrees with PSS tires? I definitely don't think you need to switch them out during the winter but there will be days when the temps don't cooperate.

With regard to college life, it's similar to this forum in terms of uplifting advice and fraternal brotherhood that everyone shows toward one another. The fact that everyone loves cars regardless of the make and want to learn more about them is always a good thing. So again, I appreciate everyone's feedback and wish everybody a safe new year. '06

My experience with the PSS below 35 degrees is not uplifting, but they has not yielded me any problems. In the spirit of daily driving they feel almost as good as an all-season tire - specifically I'm comparing them to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3.

Something else to consider, it's rare for Dallas to have temps near or below freezing for more than 5 consecutive days during winter months. This time of year you can expect average temps to be 35 (low) to 55 (high).

Whatever you end up with I'd love to see it.

I wouldn't own a car if I lived in DC. uber and metro all day lol. If I were to leave Nashville, ATL and Dallas would be my top two choices.

PS - I can appreciate the challenge and response. '06!

Boots and RPiM5, guess who's back!!! Didn't want to say anything until I finally received confirmation that production has begun, but made the decision to return to the M5! Now that I'm no longer in the DC/uncivilized law enforcement/real winter area, I figured it was time to pull the trigger.

Almost got one that was already here in the states that was Alpine White, but couldn't bring myself to having a white car...or at least a white M5. I also looked at a M6 GC in white that was sick! Something about that carbon fiber roof on the white M6 GC made me look at that differently than the M5 in white. Anyway, here are the stats on my M5:

Azurite Black
Black Full Merino Leather
Exec Pkg
Comp Pkg
343 Chrome Wheels
B&O System
Driver Asst. Plus
Enhanced BT

Congrats Cory! You will enjoy that car. Then the mod big will attach to you. When it does. Dave and myself will help guide you to the wonderful sounds of Rpi products. Just remember to plant the foot down to "posted" speed limits the opportunity presents itself.

When is the delivery date

Thanks Boots! It's looking like the end of May for the delivery date. I worked with a dealer outside of TX, so I'm debating if I'm going to go pick it up and drive it back or have it shipped here from the dealer.
