My M5 is a Lemon

So I'd like to start off by stating I LOVE my M5(2014), minus the problems I have had with it.

With that being said, BMW has agreed to replace my car(still need to go over my exact options). Since I will be getting a new car I don't want to get the exact same car I currently have. What BMW do I get next?

1. BMW i8
2. 30th Anniversary Edition BMW M5 (assuming my dealer can get it)
3. BMW M4
4. Order a new 2015 M5

Thoughts

Are they giving you priority to build your new ride?
i8 has really long wait. it'll take around 2 years to get it if you order now.
M4 is also pretty popular. you can def. locate some these days but if you want to build exactly how you want it to be, you will need to search for available allocation.

I'm not sure how long you had your M5, but if you haven't had it for long enough (aka. not bored yet), ordering 2015 M5 at great discount is decent option as well.

My car just turned 1 year old! It is a 2014.

spinnt02 Thanks! I have been super busy haven't had much time to play on the forum.

My car has been in the shop for a number of things, but the largest/scariest problem was when I was driving it across an very busy intersection I had ZERO power(pushing the peddle to the floor) for about 3-5 seconds and luckily I was rolling enough to make it through an intersection at which pointe I then got power again.

BMW has been great and is working with so we will see what my outcome is...

I think the i8 production was limited to 500 cars first year and I believe that they are all spoken for.

Besides, would you really want a first year model of the i8? I'd be worried about any possible gremlins.

Also, are they giving you full replacement? Usually when there is a buy back the amount is reduced by the use/mileage.

To me the question itself is entirely confusing as the spectrum is so broad. Only option 2. and 4. seem plausible to me, 1. and 3. are so different that I would be evenly clueless if you would ask if you should get a Tesla or an R8 instead.

Anniversary M5, fun for the fact that it's rare but since it's such a special spec car, I would no want to tinker with it, i.e. no mods or tunes. That said, a stock 2015 M5 CP can be tunes and spec'd out to outdo any anniversary edition. So I would simply go with option 4. and get a perfectly spec'd new M5 and then tweak it on top exactly the way you want it. After all, you mentioned that you "LOVE" your M5. Who knows, you might end up not loving any of the other options at all.

Just my 2cts.

I can't even think about i8! It's Hybrid car and TOTALY different compare to M car, plus too much money for the car...at that price point, you have so many options...
20th anniversary is a limited edition. Is there any available in market for you?
M4 ?? I like M4 but I hate downgrading you will miss power and luxurious
So the only option is "4" IMHO

Question: If you are concern to get another car instead of M5 and since another M car (M4) is one of your options, why not M6?
just my curiosity!

Don't get a M4. My local dealer gave me one for the weekend and I thought it was terrible.

I know other members have also posted having a dead peddle for a few seconds as well. Not good at all!

30th anniversary and i8 I think are all gone. So leaves you with 4 or 5. Do you want a 2 door or 4 ? That should make it easy.

If you want a 4 door, you could always get an i3.

My local sales guy said that, here in AZ, they are having a lot of battery issues because of the heat. Apparently it is drastically reducing the range.

Plus, that thing is ugly.

I am not a huge fan of the M6...

I am going to speak with my dealer tomorrow and talk about some options. Does anyone know what changes were made to the 2015 M5? I was trying to build one online and don't see the titanium trim anymore... Only wood...

I never like getting the same car which is why I am reluctant to get another M5. I am thinking of maybe the i8 depending on how much it is going to cost me and when/if I can get it...

When I briefly spoke to my dealer he said what ever car I get next would be for the remainder of my lease, if I understood him correctly... So whatever I get I will have for only 2 years. I am going to clarify exactly what my options are tomorrow...

The i8 is ok IF you do not need luggage space, can open the doors inside the garage , can climb in and out of it and don;t expect much to the gallon.
I drove it and got 22/24 MPG , my LCI M5 gives that with 4 doors.
