BSM vs. MCB
I got my production number today and my build starts in about 2 weeks. I have until the end of the week to decide on the color and I keep going back and forth on Black Sapphire Metallic vs. Monte Carlo Blue.
The black is so classic looking and I have always wanted a black M5, but the Monte Carlo Blue just has that wow look to it and really sticks out as a M5. I'm getting Comp Package w/ 601 wheels, Exec package, DA package, Smartphone Integration, and Silverstone Extended Interior. Just need to make the final decision on the exterior color. Any comments or suggestions either way? |

I would say if you're planning on blacking out the grills/trim it's hard to beat BSM, and with the 601s it would look awesome. I think Bluehorseshoe used to have that? MCB looks better with the chrome trim (imo) and really nice on Silverstone interior. Also may better distinguish it from the other non M 5 series driving around.

"Black looks the best, for the shortest amount of time." Someone smart said that I'm sure...and I think they're right. I've got BSM and it's a pain to keep clean where I live and work....so I might give another color a try if I do it again.
BSM as someone also said somewhere, doesn't show off the lines of the car as well as others. Then again...BSM can look very badass if you have the time to keep it shiny and add the right accessories. Just some things to think about. |

I went with BSM and got my car last week. After a thorough detailing today, I am wondering if I should have gone with MCB because it was a bitch getting all the streaks out of the paint, but it looks amazing now that it's done. I'm getting a CQuartz Finest coating in 2 weeks though and hoping that will help with that maintenance. I'll post some pics soon.

My 435ix BSM is very soft. If you are very good at detailing you may love it, if not I would heed BSM. MCB is much more forgiving in the sun too.
When I got mine I had to do a complete detailing. Wipe a rag over it wrong, or your finger, and it cuts the clear. Bugs leave carcass marks if not removed immediately. |

I've now had both BSM and Silverstone F10s. There are many beautiful colors, including Silverstone, but I have to say I miss the black. It's hard to find a more suitable and classic paint for the M5.
Sorry for the late reply, haven't been around much lately. If I had to do it over again I would go BSM with full SO interior with M Performance carbon fiber trim. (I had black on black and it was a little much. I think black 343Ms are hot on the BSM but, like the black interior, think it would be too much to live with over time.) I had the 601s that look absolutely beautiful with BSM but if I did it all over I would go with the 343Ms because they just seem to better suit the M5 DNA. OP what did you ultimately decide? Great thing is that you you can't go wrong either way because MCB is also a classic M5 color that looks sweet. |

Mine is BSM with silverstone. For a car like the M5, you can't beat how classy it looks and understated. Black out all of the chrome for a very subtle yet aggressive look. I had a BSM e60 M5 too and I wouldn't go back.
The only color I think that would compare is Singapore Grey.
