Looks very nice minus the wheels but can't wait to see it in person

yesterday I dropped my M2 for 1200 mile service
so they gave me 530 XI as a loaner
I must admit I had low expectations , but I was impressed with few things
1. the steering feel has improved
2. car felt nimble, lighter and some what flat on corners
3. transmission was very very good
4. luxury has improved
5. car looks big but feels smaller when driving
and this is a base model
so I am anxious now to test drive the M5 and see how it feels
for the record I had an F10 M5
just thought of throwing this out there

Not a total departure from the old F10. As others have mentioned, they should have gone with a better rear caliper to match the front. Carbon fiber roof is nice but I guess it'll be without a moonroof (ideal for those who don't like the added light).

Did they really put the washer fill at the back corner? Why do I see so many spilling it down the fender...

Terrible spot for that... Haha

Maybe focus less on the red M buttons and more on the placement for fluids!

First is overall body design dimensions and such. While I am glad that the F90 M5 (or rather G30 Chassis) did not increase in size much over the F10, I am still sorely disappointed with the lack of knee space in the back seat of the G30/F90. There's virtually no perceptible improvement in this area to a real person sitting back there despite BMW's announcement that there is an actual increase.

Secondly, I believe that there is just too much commonality with other M cars that usually made the M5 unique in its own design, with the F90 M5. Specifically I am talking about certain design cues such as the rear bumper reflectors and the side view mirrors. The rear bumper reflectors look like they were taken from both the X5M and the M2 with the vertical placement, while the side view mirrors not only look nearly identical in shape to the standard G30 shape, but they also borrowed the flare from E92 M3, F82 M4, and F85 X5M. I don't like this. Give the M5 its own look. I guess I should be thankful in other ways that the F90 M5 did not receive the front and rear bumper air curtain design from the F82 M4 and it got its own Side View Mirror design, unlike the M2.

The overall body design doesn't seem to flow as well as the F10 while also sharing too many big characteristics with the F10, if that makes any sense. It's as if they tried to make the F10 body design more edgy and futuristic with the F90. With the F10 M5, it's a design that you can clearly see is simple and flows. The F10 is not too busy with any off angles or creases. While the F90 M5 has multiple cue lines in the front bumper alone. And the rear quarter fender area has that crease line that flows from the side to the rear and makes it appear almost as if the ass is just hanging out there. The multiple crease lines that run down the side don't seem to work well on the F90 either, where as on the G30 it works a little better.

The interior is nice but doesn't feel like a huge upgrade like it was from the E39 M5 to the E60 M5 or the E60 M5 to the F10 M5. The main difference of the F90 M5 over the F10 M5 in terms of interior design is that it does exude that bit of a futuristic feel with its interior lighting schemes and a lot of piano black covering many of the button surfaces, however have fun trying to keep that dust free. The front seats in the F90 do look superior than the F10 though, and at least there are adjustable side bolsters this time!

And yes the continuation of the rear caliper design is stupid, but at least for the F90 they put a little ///M badge back there. Lol!

I know that I have said before that I might be interested in maybe getting an LCI F90 with the Comp Package in a few years, but now I doubt that might even happen. The more I look at it, the more I just don't like the car. Plus here in Southern California I just don't need AWD and I am not a drag racer, I'm not a 1/4 mile guy, nor do I enjoy random stop light races with Subaru WRX's. I enjoy long sweeping/tight turning canyon roads with the occasional fun day at my local racetrack. All regimes of driving that RWD high performance sedan is totally fine with.
all in all the new model doesn't seem as special as previous models were when they came out. I used to wait for them in anticipation and not be disappointing. Can't say the same for this one. e63s or panny turbo for me

I saw one yesterday at BMW of Elk Grove. Visually, it’s a nice looking car, but not much excitement over F10. Having said that, I bet it’s a blast to drive this platform.
