Just received a picture of my car up on a lift from my dealer as promised. The blanket and heater thing was a little excessive. At least it isn't being stored outside. Having thrashed my CA upon the notification call I was surprised that he stayed on the line til I was done. Several days later, he then called me back to check in with me. We made up, cracked some dumb jokes and now my pump is in. Sugar always wins.

Why would you want it to be up on a lift other than while they are actually working on the car? Seems like putting unnecessary stress on the frame, and leaving the suspension in an unnatural state for a long time.

I always draw a line between BMW issue and dealer issue. I do not knock the dealer over issues created by BMW. Bad service on the other hand, nets them my foot in their ass.

I took delivery of my F10 on 22 AUG 12, a week after I had the break-in service completed I got the bad news. My dealer picked up my car last Thursday and left me with a brand, new only 8 miles, X5M to sport around in. I am not certain where I stand on the VIN listing, but being patient with the whole ordeal certainly is key.

It is only for a short period of time. The car has specific lift points. I am fine with it as long as it is for a short period of time. (less than 24 hours) I have seen cars on lifts for much longer. The car hasn't been driven for 10 days or so. I would be more concerned with flat spots on the tires. I had a bad experience with that on a Jaguar with Pirelli P0. I'll never drive on Pirellis again.

Id like to know too. I just called BMWNA which once again didnt know much and also coulnt confirm that there was a 'rep' assigned to a specific bunch of cars VINs.... he said that doesnt seem to be the case..

He also kept asking if i contacted my dealer, i told him my dealer was informed of the recall by ME! and that they take 4 days + to give me updates. He then called the dealer and they said they would 100% be doing the fix themselves at the dealer and it will not be at the VPC.. He said the dealer is the one that is deciding what to do here...

i am not sure that anyone has correct answers, meanwhile my car still sits at the VPC and hasnt moved.

I will tell you that if it happens any different then they say it will i will then forevermore know that they all have no idea what they are doing for future instances of issues that may arise.

How long has it been sitting at the VPC? Here is the info that I found on the web. I would call the VPC yourself. Time to start taking matters into your own hands.

That caused a traumatic flashback to my 1998 M3. My stepson threw a basketball into the side rear quarter by accident. It left a nice sized b-ball dent in it. After asking him to not lay his bike down behind the car (which for some reason he had a habit of doing) he did anyway. I backed out of the garage right onto it damaging the rear diffuser. Yes, he is still alive today and in one piece.

Great news. My M6 oil pump has been replaced! The vehicle is being delivered to my office as I write this. What a relief! I hope all of you have similar smooth and seamless recalls. There is hope after all. I am getting the car back earlier than expected. All I can say is hang in there and good luck to all.

Only 11 days from recall notification to return delivery of the vehicle with completed recall service. Given the severity of this recall, I am very impressed with BMW and my dealer. This is why this is my fourth BMW and likely to be more. My dealer met and exceeded my expectations in every way. I have read some unfortunate interactions with some of us and their dealers. They are not all bad. The professionalism of my CA was exemplary. I am sure he will be in management soon. I would also like to thank my mother for raising me, my brother for.... I couldn't resist.

Wow, congrats Stonehands! I am a little surprised by this. Seems like you won the oil pump lottery. I hope many more people start experiencing similar events soon.

Congratulations. My dealer has no news or service bulletins of any oil pumps available. Anyone else hear anything? Gave me no timeline for repair.

Same here, my dealership is clueless, and doesn't seem like they care.
