F10 M5 LCI Grill
Does anyone know where to get a de-chromed and badge-less version of the new M5 grill. I don't think the accessory part looks as nice.
Also, what's the difference between the accessory part offered through BMW and the one offered through IND? |

IND is offering an OEM LCI M5 Grille w/ the surround painted black in various black finishes. The grille emblem remains in either case. Nobody that I know of is offering a badge-delete grille. |

IND offers a batch delete option. They remove the badge and fill in the slat.

Perhaps someone can provide more clarification. My understanding is that the LCI BMW Performance grill is simply the LCI grill, but blacked out by BMW. iND sells this grill, but made to your specifications (unchanged, painted, etc.).
My understanding, however, is that this grill is still somewhat hard to come by (delayed production, etc.), which resulted in the higher shipping cost for iND to obtain (hence the higher end cost to the customer vs the pre-LCI grill from iND). I'm curious, however, about the cost of the non-Performance grill. I'm assuming this would cost less than the Performance grill. Given that I would like to have iND color-match it, would the end result be the same, or do they always start with the Performance part (e.g. for paint adherence)? If it doesn't matter, then I would assume it should be less expensive to use the non-Performance grill.

I'm just curious why the iND cost has essentially doubled from non-LCI to LCI for this same product. Nate had previously mentioned the elevated shipping cost (when iND first obtained them). If they are still paying the elevated shipping cost, it makes sense. However, the part iND was using (to my understanding) was the Performance grill, not the stock LCI grill. So I'm curious why they cannot simply use the stock LCI (non-Performance), as it should be a reduced base cost to them? Is the availability of this item also low?

M5 LCI Front Grille = Double Slat Chrome
M5 LCI Performance Front Grille = Double Slat Black Chrome You should ask iND about the price point.

I have a MY14 with ZCP. The slats are black, but outer rim is chrome. The price point isn't that big of a deal. I was just under the assumption the bumped price was transient, because of the shipping. Nate, at one point, told me the LCI part would be the "same price" and later "slightly higher" than pre-LCI; yet, we're now $160 above pre-LCI. I don't drive the M5 as much in the winter, so I held off on ordering the color-matched part, assuming it was going to drop later. I just need to decide if I'm going to rock the M tri-color option.

So does this mean that the accessory grill I ordered to be installed at the port will be a black double slat grill with M5 emblem?

These are the OEM BMW LCI Performance Grilles ... same thing IND is offering ... VERY limited availability in the US. Probably why the IND price-point is in the $400 range for the set.

I understand that. Why can't they just order the LCI non-performance (i.e. stock LCI version), and paint them as they wish. Are they also limited availability. If I'm getting color-matched, wouldn't the end result be the same?

I just took a photo of the black accessory grill that was installed at the port on January 3rd. It is the single slot grill with no badge.
I'll post the photo tomorrow when I can resize it to fit the parameters of the board here.

Do yours have the chrome trim or black. If black, maybe I can buy them from you to offset the cost of the de-badged ones you want.

IND's price when they were paying the higher shipping costs was $600+, as a result I pre-ordered during the black Friday sale and got a discount off the regular $400 price. From what it seems, the BMW black performance LCI grill isnt easy to get in the US right now. IND orders the regular LCI grill then preps it and paints it, you pay for their work, and a premium for the scarcity of the product. I also have the non-lci grills from IND, and their paint work was top notch on that.
My 2 cents, but for a $100k car, $400 isnt much to pay for an accessory, and you cant really compare it to the pre-lci grill, thats an obsolete part.
