How often do you go through a set of tyres on your m5s?

As above....

Im about to buy an M5....The car is coming with a fresh set of michelin super sports and I understand this is the first tyre change on a car which has done 17000 miles....

This seems pretty good to me based on the fact that I used to get around 10000 miles out of the super sports on my old RS4

How do you guys get on?

My mate has done 22K before his were gone, It will depend on how you drive it.
I have done more miles on my winters than the MSS, I expect them to last the two years I will keep the Car.

That sounds about right. the PSSs wear much better than the PS2s. Generally people have been getting 15,000+ miles from the PSSs whereas most people were only getting around 10,000 to 12,000 out of the PS2s.

When the time comes Im guessing only the rears will need changing - any issues with running 265f with 305 rears?

+1 the Michelin Pilot Super Sports (PSS) are a harder compound tire than the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (PS2).

14,000 miles and I need a new set. No track use. Occasional aggressive driving.

A lot of this depends on what temperature tires are driven at and the overall climate where they are stored.

In north east, if you are driving this car when the outside temperature is consistently below 50Fs, you are going to reduce the lifetime of the tire significantly.

In addition, if you swap them out in winter and store them in your garage, that may not be a good idea. When it's 10-20F outside for several days, you do irreversible damage to your tire compound. You need to keep them in optimal temperature (between 50 to 80 degrees).

If you are living in California for example, the tires may/will lost a lot longer than if you did in New York and didn't follow these directions.
