I didn't drive a Panamera yet, but I don't think I will prefer it over an M5 really..

...And BMW continues to get criticize for steering below their standard. Sure the BMW is plenty fast but Porsche is Porsche, will almost always be the better driving car.

The reviewer however, exaggerated the GTS' relative performance against the M5. There is no way in hell it would be able to keep up with the M5 in the real world. The drag race does not even look like they used the launch control on the M5. I am pretty certain the GTS has better steering than the M5 though. They also conveniently forgot to mention looks. Panas are hideous creations that only a mother could love.

Sounds like he still loves the M5 but likes the Panamera a bit more.
The M5 has haydraulic steering so surprised to hear about the steering feel. Is it just overboostes/assisted? |

I find the Panamera to be too large. Its width is particularly excessive. No manual transmission in US models. Rear visibility is lousy. The high price of the Panamera is an issue as well. It does handle surprisingly nicely for a car of that size.

I own both Panamera GTS and M5. I agree with the review. Every time I drive the GTS it puts a huge smile on my face. M5 doen't disappoint, but it is a much less exciting car despite al this power.

Ah I see, so he says the F10 M5 is not a precision instrument after driving it for only an hour on the mountain roads near Mammoth California. This makes for a truly in depth and detailed driving experience.
Hogwash I say. That's the thing with these car comparisons, they don't spend enough time in them to truly gauge what the car is capable of. Also the F10 M5 is a pure sedan, the Porsche Panamera GTS is a hybrid sedan / station wagon. Can we really compare the two? Perhaps, but this is a matter of opinion though. I whole heartedly disagree with his assessment of the M5's steering. The hydraulic steering is as precise as it can be for a 4,400 pound sedan. No doubt the Porsche is extremely well engineered, but I think he had to pick something about the M5 besides the fake sound to evaluate less than the Porsche. I think the Porsche is a bigger car than the M5 too. |

These two cars are in different markets. The Porsche is much more expensive and it is really a 4 door coupe or shooting brake, not a sedan. It's a great car, but one gets more for their money in an M5.

After all these months of reviews and feedback, I've concluded the 2 following were the greatest flaws for the new M5:
1. It's TOO FRICKIN HEAVY. The old e60 was a porker... but throw on another 400 lbs? ... At least they did it right with the 3 and made it lighter. Also... so much sound deadening they had to artifically pump engine music into the stereo? Just get rid of sound deadening in excessive areas, reduce weight, get more of a natural sound back. How hard can that be??? I get that this car is marketed towards old rich men that want to show off, but it is an M car, it should work hard to balance heritage between marketing/business growth. 2. Steering Feel This is a trademark of M cars. The steering feel in the e46/e39 cars were already butchered with the e92/e60 cars, but even worse now? Someone needs to go back to the drawing board and discover the roots of why this is so important. What sets the car apart from the AMG's, the RS's. |

I would suggest you sit in a panamera, even better drive one and you might think otherwise.I have driven one and its a phenomenal machine. The looks are controversial but it looks much better in person. That thing has got some good road presence.
