Smile Buying advice for 2014 M5

Hey guys, my 2013 535i was just deemed totaled, and was thinking of getting an upgrade.

I was wondering if it is worth getting an 2014 m5 with almost all features like b&o, lane assist, exec seats, with 54,000 miles. Skimming through the carfax it seems like it maintained well..

Or am I just better off getting a 2017-16 low mileage base 530e - not dealing with any mechanical issues in the future.

The dealer is asking for $47k.

I only see one 2014+ m5 under 50k in my area for sale on autotrader, so I think I should just be a bit more patient.

Depends on how you drive and what you prefer. The ride in an M5 is slightly firmer, but therefore much sportier. The power difference between the M5 and the 535i is tremendous, but so is the MPG.
You shouldn't expect any mechanical problems if the car is well maintained and untuned...lots of tuned folks don't have issues either though.
If you looking for daily grins while driving...the M5 is it. I've owned my nearly 2 yrs, and it still doesn't get old!

Thanks for the tip!

Just test drove it today, and man it's much more firm and fidgety. Honestly I might just go for the m5 and get some kind of extended warranty so that I have a peace of mind.

Still looking around for other m5s in my area, but this one is the most equipped for the price. I might get it in a week or so, after we do a PPI on it to make sure everything is all good.

how much was the 100k extended warranty? Can I add it on after factory warranty has expired?

Don't recall exactly but it was around $3500 I think. Mine was still under full factory warranty and I have Easycare which is really good. Out of warranty you can still usually get warranty when you buy, dealer usually will have one they like....read the fine print and REALLY make sure what is covered...take your time and read it all... Don't assume and don't believe the dealer when he says" it's all covered"....my son bought a truck and extended warranty which covers everything ......the blower motor for the ac went out....guess what's not covered!!!!

I daily my 2014 M5 with CP, B&O, Exec pack and some other goodies, average 19.1MPG right now and that's allowing some WOT here and there. My daily commute is about 65M total and coming from a C6 Corvette GS trim, it is a world of difference in quality and comfort.

Identical situation - currently selling my '13 GS which in its own right is a lot of fun to drive but boy how I missed the versatility, quality and overall drivability of an M5. I've got a '13 M5 and would've been completely disappointed with anything less (550, 535, etc). In a perfect world I would've kept both cars.
