F10 M5 Exhaust System Database

IND created an exhaust system database for the E82 1M and found that many members of the community found it useful, so we are creating the same exhaust system database project here for the F10 M5.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=618555

The M5 is still a fairly new car, and as always we want to do our best to ensure our clients are well informed prior to making any purchasing decisions. As there are not many photos of OE BMW M5 exhaust systems now, we are using this diagram to showcase each component of the exhaust system and give M5 fans an idea of exactly what they are changing or replacing when purchasing a performance exhaust system.

Any vendors or M5 owners, feel free to post photos of your performance exhausts for comparison!

Eisenmann F10 M5

-Made in Germany
-Stainless steel and Inconel
-Full downpipe back or clamp on rear section

(OEM tips in photo and will update thread as more info comes out of Germany)

Update-

[QUOTE=Nate@IND;11749732]Companies are like people. As the years advance a business can grow, change, and evolve to respond to changing markets. Eisenmann’s approach has been rather different in this respect. Eisenmann has no side business, no secondary interests, and no distractions. For the past 27 years Eisenmann has maintained a singular focus based on hand crafting the finest possible exhaust systems, and for the past 27 years Eisenmann has maintained their love for BMW automobiles.

Similarly, BMW’s M5 has been an expression of the same singular focus- the M5 has always been the best sports sedan in the world.

Today we are proud to introduce Eisenmann’s F10 M5 exhaust system.

The F10 M5 may be the best M5 yet, and the engineers at Eisenmann knew the exhaust system had to be equally impressive. Eisenmann worked with IND extensively to develop their new F10 exhaust system specifically for the North American market. The hand built construction of the Eisenmann exhaust allows for versatility in manufacturing and gives us a vast list of possibilities and options.

Each Eisenmann exhaust system for the F10 M5 will be available in a Sport sound level for those who demand a discreet personality from their super sedan, and a Race sound level for a more extroverted driving experience. Three tip options are available- four 90mm round tips, four 102mm round tips, or four 120x77mm oval tips. Best of all the new M5 system can be built as a 100% 304 stainless steel exhaust system, or as a hybrid of stainless steel and the amazing material Inconel.

IND will present the new F10 system to the public on May 19th at the BimmerFest Los Angeles show, but we will continue to update this thread and will release pricing information shortly.

KKS Performance F10 M5 exhaust

I've got a button to control the valves autonomous.
Downpipes are the next thing to come these days :-)
We have not made WOT runs as the car is factory new and nit run-in.

The reving-noise was raised from 93db to 108db with open valves.
Closed valves mean stock noise levels.

Here's some more info:
it's a 3" axle-back, it doesn't make sense to change the piping from downpipes to rear axle as it is full 3" stock and has 2 very very small mufflers.
The biggest restriction are the downpipes with 4 (2 on each side) restrictive catalsysts.
I'm getting new SS downpipes with 2 (1 on each side) 200cpi metallic cats.
No engine light, a decent hp gain and more noise is promised :-)
KKS delibers a button or remote to control the exhaust .
The stock exhaust valves open/close at certain rpms or WOT so you can't control them the same way like the KKS exhaust.
That's the big difference between other bolt-on exhausts and this one.
The weight is same as stock as far as I can tell.

How are you aftermarket exhaust people going to deal with the OEM exhaust sound that is piped in through the speakers??? BMW Active Sound uses OEM exhaust sounds, recorded on a dyno and played through the sound system to give the driver 'accurate simulated sound' of the OEM engine.

Am I just nuts, or is this a reasonable question? If you buy and aftermarket exhaust, and don't shut off the 'Active Sound', you're still hearing piped-in mp3 sound through the car stereo system. Won't you be hearing two different exhaust sounds in the same car? Nobody has said anything about how you can turn this off.

Or do you just say "What the heck, the combo sounds great so we don't care." Crazy.

Once we have the F10 M5 in our hands here at IND we are going to remove the Active sound by removing it from the vehicle order.

I bet the Eisenmann will be close.

The Ti prices have been going up and welding Ti properly takes a skilled workforce, not some crap made in China.

The Akra is a work of Art, trust me, Ive seen it up close. The welds are like little butter beads. Its impressive.
