Update. Motorcycle cop shooting lazer. He is approx 100m behind me stationary and I pick him up every time he engaged on a vehicle. The distance on the radar is pretty good especially when you've passed police officer even up to 1/4 mile. At one point I thought I had a lot of false readings but it was actually two police officers at a distance of a half a mile and closing in from opposite direction and when we crossed paths a third one was a quarter of a mile behind them and I picked him up also So this radar has already paid for itself in terms of its threat level of alertness. When ever a threat was front side or rear the 9500 did its job.

The Expert display is a setting on the 9500ix. Escort Live is an added $100 product.

My M5 has a V1/Blinder M40 set up and I had the 9500ci installed in my truck. I have to say I like the Passport so much better. Far fewer false alarms and the learnign funtion is invaluable. Frankly, the V1 is useless on 95 in NY and CT because it is a constant stream of falses.

When I get the F10, I will definitely look at the Bel Stir+/LI option since there seems to be a performance advantage, but I do like how the 9500ci combines the radar and laser in one display, audible alerts and control panel.

After 7 hours on the highway and witness several law enforcement officers the radar did exactly what the company stated. Very pleased with this purchase.

I use it on trips from NYC to Atlantic city and it saved me plenty of times.

Does anyone have any info on installing the hardware kit yourself or do you need to go to a shop? I am in the Los Angeles area BTW in case you had a referral. TIA

If you're good at that sort of thing, I think it's quite easy. There is a hard wire kit included with the detector. If you'd rather let a professional do it, it's a 1 - 1.5 hour job, max.

Wow, if a pro takes 1 to 1.5 hours to do it, then I definitely don't want to do a hack job on my car. If anyone has any good LA installers, then please let me know. Thanks in advance.

You misquoted. there is no hard wire kit that comes with the 9500. Only the cigarette lighter cord. You have to purchase the kit.

You are correct. I purchased Escort Live with my 9500 and that's what came with the hard wire kit.

FYI If any of you purchased a 9500ix in the last 30 days you may want to return it.

Escort is about to launch the Passport Max which is a the next gen version which I understand solves the poor alert ramp-up issue of the 9500ix and has better filtering of ACC, BSW and LDW systems. The old model is being liquidated for $100 off right now.

Is this a battery operated system?

UPDATED. Got with Rob///M5 and he let me know he used 54. First of the DC power fuses. Cool!

Looked high and low for this...can't seem to find a F10 M5 related answer.

For those of you who installed an add-a-fuse/circuit for the install, which fuse did you use? According to the other F10 install guides I see 48 or 57 used.

TIA

Any word on whether this will be available in a ci (stealth install) version.

I haven't seen anything about a new ci (concealed install) but I would imagine that they would launch a Ci with DSP too.

BTW despite the fact that 9500ix and 9500Ci have the same 9500 designation, the product is very different. The 9500ci has a completely different antenna technology so think of it as a separate product with a separate development cycle.

I am hoping for a new concealed install detector that has both DSP and a separate rear antenna instead of the current setup so we can have arrows just like the V1. This would effectively mean 3 antenna since the current 9500/STIR+ antenna contains 2 parallel antenna with 360 degree detection but because they aren't arranged longitudinally it can't determine forward or backward.

I have an old passport 8500 - like ten years old. Is it obsolete in terms of detection and protection? Like what % protection versus this new system would you guess I am getting?
