M5 competition package wheels

Just saw my first comp pack M5. I'm sorry, but, those new wheels are horrendous! No concavity in the front. Plus they aren't forged. No thanks...

I thought the same until I saw them at iND. Nice aggressive offsets and shows off the brakes nicely.

Everyone entitled to their opinion, but "horrendous" is a bit much.

I'm enjoying my CP and have had people positively comment on the wheels specifically. The 343's are terrific rims and it's a shame that the 601s are associated with spending an additional amount of money (therefore making people think they might be getting something better - but they are not).

I like having some differentiation or distinction. I'm not really into modifying my cars too much (if at all) so for me, I like to buy something that I'm happy with right out of the assembly line/dealership.

Again, the 343s are great looking rims but the 601s also suit the car very nicely and mark a point in time in the evolution of the M5.

I wasn't a huge fan until I saw them in person. I think they fit the car very well. I still don't think I would get them my self, but they do look good once you actually see them...

Same here. Looked better than expected in real life. But I still prefer the originals.

My post-stelvio pass wheels disagree, but I guess to each his own. I think these look grat in person in every color I have seen, and are easy to clean, show off the brakes nicely, and complement the cars lines nicely.

I do agree that they are too heavy and should have been forged....

Ok. Not horrendous. But not good looking either. Sorry. Personal preference I guess.

Anyone driving an F10 M5 clearly doesn't give a shit about weight. However, to try and answer the question...

The 601s are:
1. Not forged
2. Wider

1 + 2 = Heavier

I haven't seen actual weights but I am guessing the weight of these wheels will not be anyone on this forums lap time limiting factor...

If I were getting the ZCP I would probably order them just to be visually different, especially if no aftermarket rims planned.

But again, to each his own.

They are either 2 or 4.5 lbs heavier per wheel, depending on which report you believe, but yeah all of mwlmd's puts are spot on

Read in a couple places on here that they were reported as being 5 pounds heavier in the front, 5.5 in the rear. A piece, of course. That's a lot, pretty unacceptable since they are the same cost as the 343s.

Weight is a minor issue. The bigger issue with these wheels is that they aren't as strong as the forged wheels. A heavy high performance car punishes its wheels. A competition package car punishes its wheels even more.

My Dinan 550i had cast 19" wheels running michelin pilot super sports, and it needed wheel balancing every 3 months. Cast 20" wheels with an M CP suspension would fare worse.

CP wheels look so much better on "real" cars than they did on the press photos. These wheels are starting to look really nice to me now. They complement the CP well and have a more, ehhh... "competition" look to them

Being easy to clean was one of the reasons I was considering 601s, but opted for the 343s - cost option in the UK. Incidentally the 343 Black are a matt finish.

The 601s are specified as forged in the UK July 2013 price list?

I'm curious, why did you need to balance those wheels every three months?
