Oil Change Intervals on Non-CPO m5

So I am looking at a m5 that is being sold from a non-bmw dealers sans any sort of CPO. Albeit the car is 1 year old, and has had it's break in service oil change ~1200 mile mark, there hasn't been any oil changes from that break in period to present (11.5K) miles.

My questions are:

1. Do m5's need the 5K, 10K, and 15K oil changes or is that too excessive

2. Buying from a non-BMW dealer, yet having the break in service on the carfax, will BMW sell me an extended warranty? And,

3. Is it better for me to just go and do 3rd party warranty as opposed to BMW in this specific instance? (I have Zurich)

Thanks for the help & information team!

I do my own oil changes at 7.5K intervals. I don’t see why BMW won’t sell you an extended warranty. Dealerships always wanna make money so they’ll most likely sell you one lol

If the car has warranty left over BMW will extend it for a fee no matter how you acquired the car.

The warranty always goes with the car, not the owner.

The onboard computer sets the required oil change interval, so it's probably about there if you look in Vehical info screen. Unless it was CPO which it probably isn't since only year old BMW won't CPO it if they don't sell it. If it had a CPO it doesn't automatically transfer with the car. It will have maintainance till 50k which does go with the car and any dealer will honor and obviously the factory warranty to 50k or 4 yrs. you can get an aftermarket warranty from the likes of Easycare, Fidelity ETC and a dealer can help with that or you can go to them direct.
My son just bought a used 2014 550i from BMW dealer which had been CPO and was able to negotiate transferring it for $3500. BMW essentially want to recertify to ensure car is still in a "factory" condition before extending the warranty but apparently dealer has discretion to offer it or not.

Just to add - BMW typically had it scheduled for 1 oil change per year. So, the onboard computer is usually flagged at 13K miles or 21K kms. At least, this is what my dealer had indicated when i'd go in. I usually did one ( on my own) at 2K than 7K and then have them do the 13K. They claim since it has close to double the capacity (nearly 9 liters) and is fully synthetic "M" oil, it can maintain the longer interval. If it's a lease and you could care less of keeping it, then most would stick to the one. If it's your own or you're planning to keep it, Id ensure it's done more frequently.

Oddly, there is a 1200 mile M service so odd it doesn't show on the vehicle history repairs.

Extended warranty, you'll probably pay more but then there won't be any hassle going in for repairs.

3rd party warranties, depending on how they are setup, could have you pay and then claim the repair or have paperwork for clearance of what is and isn't going to be covered making it more involved (not to say any less effective). NOTE - Never had any experience with a 3rd Party.
