Dunno and "production" has not really started just a status change and vin assignment. But official US launch is 9/1 and nobody gets a car before then.
Also a lot of steps for the car to get to the dealer after the car is completed.

If US launch date is 9/1 I can see BMW starting production early to try and ensure there is enough time for any issues to clear along the supply chain or import into the US. Dealers will also have to prep the car which includes downloading the necessary software updates.

My sales person told me so and it is not July when they start the 2013 models. Bottom line is it really does not matter when you car is built, it matter when you get it and no one is getting their M5 deliverd to them in the USA before 9/1 and I believe that is official from BMW.

I don't know one way or the other about this, but I have to say that sales people at Bay Area BMW dealerships seem to know a lot less about what's going on with the M5 than some people on this forum...

CORRECTION

Applogies for forwarding mis-information as it was given to me

You are correct, cars will be delievered PRIOR to the official launch date, which remains unchanged as 9/1. So Some of you lucky guys will have your cars in your garage while we'er playing in Germany

True. Nice to have the savings, especially considering the lease numbers announced yesterday.

Just checked on BMWUSA and it is still in the production begins stage. But I remember it saying the production will be completed on the 2nd of July when i called the 800 number and checked for status. So I called the 800 number to check again and it says that my vehicle is being transported to the port of exit. I guess that means production is done and just waiting on it being transported here.
