B&O and suspension retrofit
Guys I need your help please. I found really sweet deal on 2014 M5 CP fully loaded except for B&O. At first I didn't want a CP car because it makes the ride harsh I suppose (never tried one). So I have two questions where I need your opinions urgently.
1. Is it possible to retrofit the B&O? 2. If I change the dampers and springs from a non-cp M5 to a CP M5, will it work and softens the ride without harming any other things? Greatly appreciate your input. Thank you! |

After driving both CP and non, I don't think harsh is the correct way to describe the CP. I still found the car to be comfortable. I would describe it as a more responsive feel.

I would not describe the CP ride as harsh at all...unless you plan to drive on really bad roads on the stiffest setting (Sport+). There is plenty of chassis room between Comfort and Sport+ mode. I would just call Sport and Sport+ modes increasingly firm. I use Sport+ for the most part and it's great (though lots on this board prefer Sport).
I think CP is worth it. The exhaust is better too. It's not on par with some of the great exhausts that folks on this board are running, but I think it is a good compromise. Sometimes I don't want a loud car (e.g. driving early in the morning through residential neighbourhoods) whereas most of the time I want to hear the crazy engine. I find it to be a good compromise exhaust (though it could certainly be louder and MEANER in WOT driving). Sure CP is expensive, but I think it takes the M5 up that last 10% in terms of driving dynamics. I run black 343s so the CP wheels were irrelevant to me. |

Current Sport+ feels like original CP's Comfort or Sport. |

Comfort mode rolls around too much for me (bad roads exacerbate it), but the ride is never bouncy. "Sport" equals firm. "Sport+" is responsive and tight. This mode is only harsh on bad roads. It's all well calibrated. You will find your sweet spot.

It depends on the road condition you drive.
The overpass expansion joints of expressways are the major problems to me. I can feel every imperfection of the flatness. The car lifts me up and down at every joint. That makes me dizzy. After replacing the CP spring to non-CP one, this issue is solved. |

Have you driven non-cp car before? What would you opt for if you were to purchase again an M5? |

I have a CP M5 and it is not too stiff. It is perfect. Perfect blend of ride and sportiness! Would order again too. Those that think it is too stiff should order a Lexus

Bullshit. Those that think its too stiff should not get the competition package. What a non sequitur - you really think that one step in softness below the M5CP is a Lexus!
