Some of the info is skewed bc the sample size is only pulling from those on this forum, which usually is a younger demographic in relation to the m5 board or those who are too busy to be on a forum at all...

This is skewed for a number of reasons.... one of which is the fact that, as you mentioned this is a world-wide forum.
In the US, this is a 100k car... in Australia it's a 250k car ( and yes we have dollar parity or close and have had for years now ). My new M6 has a RRP of $312k here.
So I hazard to guess that if you checked ages here, the average would be MUCH higher than it is in the States.
I have heard that in countries such as Singapore the prices are even higher!

Who gives a f#% if its skewed....it's a simple question. It's not always about money, maybe it about age and what car you wanted.

I think you also have higher average income in aus compared to US. Somewhat offsetting the higher cost if living.

I'm not sure that necessarily true. I've been to Australia and the US for the same company and I'd say the cost of living is pretty much one to one . Many luxury items such as cars etc are significantly more expensive in AUS than the US (as has been mentioned the M5 is a 250k car, a basic 320i will run you almost 70k) . Housing prices are comparable to the US etc .
Post-tax incoming is within 10-15% of the US income.
However the lifestyle is much better in AUS, I'm particular to Melbourne and think it's one of the best cities in the world to live.
Biggest downside of Australia is that no major international IT company has their headquarters there (most of them are based in Singapore) and every trip will be at least a day trip. But still a wonderful place to live and work (I am fortunate enough to be able to work from any (remote) place I want)

Anyways back to the original thread....

Good ol midlife crisis Just turned 40 and it sucks bananas

I am finally able to pay cash for all my cars but im old now
Im really confused what to get to replace my E60 M5. F10 is too big and E92 is too small. I've been looking at maserati, 997 T, GTR, etc. I guess I am really having a midlife crisis.

I haven't read through this entire thread, but from what I've seen I guess I'll have to throw in my 68 to try to bring the average age to something above 29! And I still can't pay cash for a car like the M5! You young whippersnappers are very fortunate, and perhaps smart and talented, to be able to own the M5.
