Ringing sound ?
Hi Chaps,
Has anyone experienced an intermittent ringing type sound ?. It sounds a bit like brake squeal, but isnt. I cant quite put my finger, or ears, on just where the ringing is coming from, but its somewhere underneath the car. Seems to last a few minutes, and if i shut off, when i start up again, the ringing is gone. Dont think its very serious, but would like to track it down. Its happened twice this last week, any ideas ?. Thankyou, regards, SIMON. |

yup. My car went in for this. BMW say its normal, they create a PUMA case but nothing heard back. I test drove a couple of other M5's and they all do it. It seems to come from the gearbox, which I said wasn't right as my M3 has same gearbox and doesn't do it.
Neil.

Im not to bothered about it, more i just want to know what it is. Even my wife asked, "whats that noise" ?, this morning. It doesnt feel aggressive, or like anythings about to break, but you never know do you ?. Regards, SIMON. |

thats was my fear, I managed to record it and the dealer thought it was not right either. It reduces as the car warms up also.
just makes me feel the car is a bit of a jalopy with squealing brakes and that ringing noise. Neil.
