Black Alloy Paint Code

Hi Guys,

Marked one of my alloys today and thought it would be time to go black!
Does anyone know the OEM paint code for the black alloys?
Is it a satin finish?
Thanks,
James

I believe it's powdercoat, not paint.

I think it's like a low gloss black.. not matte and not gloss black.

I have been interested in doing the same to my OEM wheels.

Haven't done too much research into it yet. Been busy on a few other mods.

Hi Aaron,
I have had a quote from BMW to have this done but it would be paint not powder coat. I can't really see any issues with doing it this way can you?

Well the reason I prefer PC over paint is because powder coat is much stronger and holds up better, whereas paint can flake and chip.

What were you quoted for paint, roughly $175/wheel?

"Plasti dip" it. It gives you a matt finish, and if you mess it up, you can simply peel it off.
It's the most economical way, compare to PC or Paint.

^^Personally, I would not even consider this as an option. Cheap route is not always the best way. If my car were a Honda..ya sure.... on a BMW... NO WAY!!.

You are right. You get what you pay for. But I can tell you that, you cant tell the difference between a Painted Matt Black and Plasti Dip. And you would be surprised how many BMW owner's choose to go this route.

Thank you Neil, really appreciate that.
Do your black wheels have black valve stems?
I can't seem to find black ones anywhere so wondered if everyone just leaves them silver. Even the OEM factory black wheels?

How difficult would it be to get the 20" rims grey internal finish done in a black finish?
(leaving the diamond finish on the face)

Anyone done this?
