Debating upgrading to M5

Hey guys,

So I've been thinking a little bit about upgrading my 535xi to an M5. But what is the way and what should I be looking for?

Here is one I found that I like, but I'm not sure about the white interior.
https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/c...207791058.html

Or this one, which is white and black interior but the price is a little higher: https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/c...217750796.html

What about in terms of warranty? Are they transferable?

I dont mind flying out and getting the car; my friend and I flew to Denver, CO and drove back his C63 to seattle in 20 hours non stop.

It's important to get the service records for the car to ensure all maintenance has been performed as well as any issues that the car may have had; the 13' F10 M5 was the first year for this car in the US and there were several documented issues (my first F10 M5 was a 13' and it spent a bit of time at the dealer before upgrading to a 15').

I noticed both listings in your post were 13's; IMO if you could afford a little more I would search for 14' or newer LCI.

Make sure you buy a warranty to ensure no large cash layouts down the road as these cars are not cheap to fix when something serious goes wrong. At this point 13's and most 14's are out of warranty so you would need to see if any vehicles you're buying have a warranty that may be transferable.

Do a search and you should be able to find quite a bit of information as this topic has been discussed quite a bit.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply; I'm checking with my bank to see if they will allow the bump to 50k.

What do you guys think of this car? Is it priced right in your opinions? http://www.definitivemotors.com/auto...4-wa/19141269/

Thanks for your help. I'm finding some deals but they're all on the east coast.

I was reading online and some people suggested maybe waiting until the new M5 comes out as F10 M5 will drop in price.

.

of course it will.

but if you really want an f10, why not just buy one now and have remaining warranty? do you want to wait till it's worth 30k, out of warranty, and beat up?

please, dont be "that guy"

For the 10-15k, yes I will be that guy. Even though I really enjoy my cars, my priorities are else wear. Technically I already have an F10 so its just power that isn't there. Isn't that why there is a such thing as an extended warranty. I have to bring down my spending price down a little but still get what I want. For that, if I have to wait like 6 months, I think it worth it.

Thank you for all those that helped, I'll be sure to check classified here and there for some awesome deals.

The F10 M5 is one of the best cars Ive owned and would be difficult to beat. The longer Ive owned it, the more I get hooked with it. This is becoming my DD but due to the distance I drive(84 miles daily) to work, I limit it 1-3 days/week but it is difficult. Its a beast that is so stable in high speeds. Its addicting.

I just bought a 535ix to alternate and hoping that it would decrease my craving to drive it as I am racking up miles on this bad boy but when I get a chance, I drive it.

Get an F10 M5, its a monster compared to a 535.

I'm debating getting this one that I saw on CarMax. I'm going to clean up and take my car there just to see what they would offer (proably just a laugh) but the car seems nice: https://www.carmax.com/car/14767985

Low mileage and nice color combination; 13's with low mileage are going for high 30's / low 40's at auction so I think there's a bit of room to negotiate this price down from the $49k.

OP, I'm on the East Coast in South Jersey. If you find a car in the area in PA, DE, or NJ, feel free to let me know. I don't mind taking a drive and checking it out for you. I'm in the same boat as you but with a 16' 535. I love my car, just want it to handle better and have more power. I have looked at a bunch of other options to replace my car (15 mos into a 36mo lease, but the cap cost was very and I mean very good, so I can get out with not much of an issue) from new vehicles to lease and low mileage used that weren't 550s (F10 and G30) or M5's. I have driven M3, M4, RS7, GTR, CTS-V ATS-V, you name it. Earlier today I finally bit the bullet that everyone tells you to not do which is to drive an M5, it was actually a 14 M5 with Comp and LEDs, nothing else.....this will be my next car, no question about it. It had the low down authoritative grunt that I felt the M3/4 was lacking, the comfort and the handling. I was also a bit befuddled as to how taking off at around 50% throttle, everything in Sport Plus with mildly used Pilot Sports in high 70 degree weather, got the traction control light to come on two separate times.

I've got a few people requesting information about my car that's for sale but nothing final. But I started looking at this one that's "local", opinions?

Just to give you a ballpark price, I bought my 15 CP a month ago for $60.5k. It's certified with 33.5k miles. It has everything except night vision and ceramic brakes. Good luck with your search!

Sounds good. I'm considering it. I'm trying to say in the 45-50k range.

You can find great value cars. My 2015 space grey CP with 22k miles came to lease end and they wanted 76k-I said no way and got an M6 cp coup, fully warrantied for 59k with 20k miles. Awesome car.
