I love my m5 with 6 speed. The driving experience is very different and you can't get that from dtc. They are also very rare, so if you can find one is good shape don't hesitate. Every time I get my car serviced I get a "wow, it's a 6 speed... don't see these ones often"
If you want speed, get the dtc. If you want experience and engagement, get the 6 speed.

I'm in support of you finding a manual M5, however the story they gave you is a bit skeptical. Perhaps try telling them that it's a deal breaker to have some unknown service done on the car and see what kind of a response they give you?

On a side note, why would you spend nearly 40k on a '13 when you can have a '14 for about 5k-10k more? To me, the LCI update is well worth it, especially when you consider the resale value.

Not sure why you simply didn't inquire about exactly what it needs before walking away altogether.

This is one of the only 6MT available on the market currently. I would love for it to be an LCI as I agree the LCI upgrades are pretty significant but finding a 6MT to begin with proved to be a challenge

I see now that what happened is that your thread title mislead people about what you wanted to ask. It sounds like you wanted opinions on MT vs. DCT. What you really wanted was opinions on whether this pre-LCI car is a good value / good condition.

The 6MT accounts for 7% of all M5's ever produced, so it will not be easy but you just have to keep looking. I saw approximately three when I last checked (a week ago).

I couldn't find a 6MT F10, so I jumped on a F13 instead.

You are limited to what's available and there's no telling what will come into the market.

I dont agree that the MT in an F10 is not fitted for it.
I dont care about quarter miles. If you want to be quick, get a DCT.
It you want a drivers car, get a manual.

An F10 in 6 MT is exactly what I'm looking for. I want it because it is rare. Get what you want man don't let anyone deter you!

Also I saved that same car you checked out on CarGurus LOL but I'm in California so I won't be checking that one out. There's a '13 M5 in Newark but it's DCT.

Im still on the fence... The dealership has been chasing me to buy it so Im now negotiating again, if I can strike a stupid deal and they guarantee the car has no issues and that it gets looked over I may do it... I don't really want a DCT again. I loved the way the stick felt and definitely want to go that route this time

So you're intentionally going to buy something you don't 'really want' just because it's a deal? I say you stick to your guns and get the manual.

Every car I've owned has been manual and I want my first BMW to be a manual. Just be thorough but if it doesn't work out be patient.

So you're intentionally going to buy something you don't 'really want' just because it's a deal? I say you stick to your guns and get the manual.
No he meant he doesn't want a DCT again so he's going back to the dealer that had the 6speed.

Didnt you have it inspected before purchase? If not, shame on you. If you did they should have found anything that needed fixing.

Good luck finding a 6MT. I got lucky that I found mine local, but I paid $10k over what I would have if it were a DCT.

Do you think the Manual is worth it though? When I start seriously looking for my BMW I'm thinking E90 M3 in 6 speed but then I remembered that they still made the F10 M5 in a 6 speed so I'd rather have that since it has a lot of the nicer luxury aspects (thinking of the moms) but is still really sporty.

I really really love driving manual and all my cars I've owned so far have been manual.
