Took delivery of M5 w/CP last Saturday! (9/7/13)
We came back from HI a few days early to take delivery of our '14 M5 with the comp package. LOVE this car! More than I expected! I Got 20 mpg on the drive back from Reno to Saint George, UT driving around 70 mph most of the time.
The way the car reads lane position and speed limit signs is uncanny! Two car dealer rumors I can put to rest that I have read on the forum:
The auto headlight feature works FAR better than expected! It's right on the money every time! I am amazed at some of the magazine writers who now love the iDrive but now they can't figure out how to get the M5 in reverse without an aneurism! Guess they just have to write something so Audi will keep giving them deals on cars? I do miss the feature I had on my last 5 series (not an M) that when in D and you paddled down it would after a period of time go back to the D position. If it's on this car and I don't know where or how to find it please let me know. I’m not sure how I ended up with the woven aluminum dash as I ordered wood? Never seen one before and it’s not on the order sheet; however I do like it. Some photos: |

Congratulations. The Aluminum trim looks good in your black interior, and complements the B&O speakers well.
The way this happens is that your dealer probably forgot to put wood on the order. If wood isn't on the order you get Aluminum since Aluminum is standard, and wood is a n/c option.

Thank you! First "dark" car I've owned and I've owned dozens. Just thought I'd change it up.

@UtahM5 no this car does not have that "return to drive" mode that standard BMW's have. This is the first clue that you now own an M car. That feature on an M car would upset so many owners.
You can always program your M1 and M2 buttons. So if you need to paddle, tap M1 or M2 to return to drive logic.

I do understand. I just liked it for passing on the freeway. I would down shift to say 4th then blast the pass, use the engine compression to slow back down and then it would drop back into D. NO big deal I'm sure I get used to the new method and wonder why I like the other

I have the black chrome exhaust tips on my '13 M5, but it was spec ordered individual equipment.
All '14 CP have black chrome exhaust tips, as part of the package. Also the baffles are removed to give a better tone only. No HP or flow changes. All '14 LCI have standard chrome exhaust tips.

I do understand the black chrome exhaust tips, just not one pipe being or appearing cleaner than the other.
