Perhaps it's because the f10 is still a relatively new platform and nobody's had the same problem (and with a small % of people upgrading to an LCI wheel)? And the fact the e46 is much older so others have likely experienced or solved most problems people bring up?

Nope. It must be because the forum and everyone here sucks. *sarcasm*

Why don't you figure what's wrong and contribute rather than assume nobody wants to help.

It needs to be coded out yes. It's the paddle shifters that cause the problem IIRC.

I also lost my coding and tune when my software was updated for an emergency call malfunction. It was updated to the latest software and now the tune is incompatible. Going on 9 months without a proper working car...

You must have had a one off problem because all steering wheel retrofits eventually need to be coded to work properly.

That?s not true. I have a retrofit. No coding necessary and all functions work.

Sometimes the circuit that is checked by the SZL and EPS modules require a deactivation, adaptation, or an update to work/respond correctly when doing retrofits or tune flashes. I've run across the problem. It's not common but it does happen.
ex. when retrofitting LCI taillights, the LED shows a fault code until the module speciifcation is set to nicht_active to deactivate the check.

I second this. No coding necessary. Just took off old steering wheel, and replaced it with new lci.
