Drone Question on Stock Mufflers

A lot of people talk about Drone in the low rmp range (1700-2500) with aftermarket mufflers. I still have not gotten after market mufflers yet but do I hear drone from the stock mufflers? It certainly sounds that way. So I wonder how much worse could it be with other after market mufflers, also am I the only one that hears this out of the stock set up/

You might be hearing active sound. You can try coding it off or pulling the fuse to see if it changes.

I don't get anything that i'd characterize as drone - I have the CP exhaust.

noise is subjective to every individuals. I'm in my 40's and I like sportier sound without the noise, per se.

The stock exhaust does have some drone noise (not annoying in any measure) but if compared to aftermarket ones, it would be a night & day comparison, IMO.

I had installed E-Race (shipped by mistake, instead the E-Sport I had ordered) and long story short, after 2 weeks on the E-Race, drone noise killed the fun factor on me and had to take them off and went back to stock.

My suggestion to you is to find someone in your local area who have done aftermarket exhaust and let you go on a ride with the owner and see for yourself.

I'm 48. Love the sound of my rpi straight piped, Rpi down piped system. But to each their own. Not for everyone. Still very quite inside the cabin.

My catless ams downpipes and turner are a horridly loud combo on startup and drone at 1800 rpms but goes near stock silent at 2000rpms. My wife and 10 month old son ride around with me every weekend with no complaints. With diligent use of your right foot and some restraint you can be civil. But with just a twitch of the foot you can be a total hooligan. I may test the stock exhaust with the DPs to see how that nets out.

Drone on Stock Mufflers

It is the Active Sound. I had a drone issue at speeds above 85 MPH in 7th gear, which was annoying. When Active Sound was disabled, the drone disappeared.

Garage List
My car has a slight drone below 2000 rpm. This has nothing to do with active sound, at least in my car. It was there both stock and with the Meistershaft exhaust. Definately far more pronounced with the valves open. Absolutely no drone above 2000 rpm. I like it around town. I'd rather not have it when doing 70mph on the freeway. Good news is, I'm almost never doing less than 80.
