Hi Guys,

I made a video on how to launch the new M5/M6 since many people seem to misunderstand the instructions. Its actually extremely easy if you do it the right way. Enjoy!

Your instructions only work for right-hand drive M5's and M6's though, what about left handed ones??!?!?!?!

why is there an edit in the video while explaining it and then actually launching it? Did you mess up? haha

You mean a cut?... At what time? I looked twice after your comment. Its fluid..HAHA?

Let the video load.... It has no cut....

He says push down pedal then turns down the limiter then releases the shifter... Not magic no camera trick... You have to be patient and wait for the video to load otherwise it will look weird..

P.s. I don't know OP, just noticed how irrelevant and incorrect your 1 cent was.

BTW I was joking I have a 6MT, I didn't really try.

strange - i had the video loaded fully and it kept cutting there.

I tried rewinding it and it didn't cut.

Launch control didn't look as dramatic as when it cut! haha

watching that video makes me realize how boring and painful driving an automatic is.Great accelerations there but still a DCT at heart cant compare to the fun of a stick shift.Thanks for posting the video though.

I recently launched for the first time. Tires were hot (sticky) and pressures were optimal. It was a no drama (read no excitement) affair. I suppose it was effective, but honestly, I'd rather just use S3 and do it myself.

Initiated launch control, for the first time today, but didnt go through with it. I just wanted to see how easy it would be to bring it up. All that needs doing is, switch T/C completely off, by holding the button down for a few seconds. Select S3 in manual mode. Push the gear lever forward, and you get the flag symbol. I didnt even touch the brake at any time, as the surface was flat. Shove your foot to the boards and hold, as soon as you let go of the lever, you are off. You can trim the launch revs with the C/C button. I dont think it could be any simpler. I did fiddle around, and see if i could get the flag with other settings, such as MDM mode, or S2 etc, but no, it has to be T/C fully off, and S3 selected.

Not sure if its different on the M5/M6, but my (read: any) X6M launches in MDM mode. I don't have to turn off TC completely.

Did you drive it for more then aproximately 6 miles? The car needs to be completly warmed up for launch to activate.

Just Program the M button with every thing turned up to Sport+, S3 and DSC off.
Then when you wanna use the launch control, just press one button, hold the gear lever forward gently tap the brake and floor the Gas paddle. Takes 2 second...
