Here are my guesses, all minor tho as there won't be any major changes to F10 M5
1. some software updates to iDrive 2. Standard led headlights 3. Some new color/wheel option 4. Possibly a Special edition packaging as someone already mentioned Again all minor as the M division is working on LCI F80 and upcoming M2.

I see.
In any case, if they can't configure it for the current model, then hopefully they can install certain changes for the next generation. P.S. I was just trying to experiment with the BMW Germany website by configuring an M550d xDrive station wagon I was surprised to see Ceramic Controls being available as an option for that variant. So yeah, I hope to see Ceramic Controls for next generation of the M5 |

E39 M5: 1. 1998 2. 1999 3. 2000 4. 2001 - LCI 5. 2002 6. 2003 E60 M5: 1. 2005 2. 2006 3. 2007 4. 2008 - LCI 5. 2009 6. 2010 F10 M5: 1. 2012 2. 2013 3. 2014 - LCI 4. 2015 5. 2016 6. 2017 G80 M5: 1. 2019 2. 2020 3. 2021 4. 2022 5. 2023 6. 2024 The only thing that is odd is that BMW introduced the LCI on the F10 M5 a year early than what has been done in the past. Like I said I'm just deducing these things based off of what BMW has done in the past. It could very well be that since the introduced the LCI F10 M5 so early that there won't be a 2017 M5 and they will cut it short. BMW has been doing crazy stuff lately so who knows. I mean there could be goofy stuff like an X1M and X4M coming out in the future.

Yes that is peculiar, but the M4 also has the same exact production length. It doesn't mean that October 2016 is when all F10 Production will stop for good though. But it could also mean that BMW have decided upon a longer production run for the last model year rather than doing another model year and having a much shorter production run than normal. Like what happened with the 2010 E60 M5 which ran from July 2009 to December 2009. Very short production run. Also, deleting a model year could also explain the introduction of the LCI early in the life cycle for the F10 M5. I still think there could be a 2017 M5, it just might be a very very short production run. The new G30 5-series might not even come out until Spring of 2017 at the latest. I am also surprised that there is going to be a 2016 E89 Z4. Lol! Edit: After further analysis, there may very well be no 2017 M5. After reading what Jason posted about the G30 5-Series, it appears that the 5-Series will end a whole model year early for real. Traditionally, the 5-Series ran for 8 model years, but now it's only going to be 7, seems BMW is changing things up. I have a hard time imagining BMW continuing making F10 M5's when they've started G30 Production already, but this also means that the G8x M5 may come a year earlier in the future too. Good for enthusiasts, bad for the wallet. I'm sure that by next January will will know for sure, if all F10 production will be ending in October 2016.

There are a whole lot of rumors online about the new engine lineup for the G30 5-series. Like the rumor that the 550i will have a new ~425hp 3.0L 6cyl instead of the 4.4L V8 and that the new M5 will have 600hp -- same as the current 2016 Alpina B6 xDrive GC. |
